COVID information

What a year and a half it has been!

First & foremost,

We want you to do whatever makes sense and is comfortable for you. We understand traveling anywhere during a pandemic is something not everyone is feeling confident or safe doing. If you are one of the people who feel that way, we completely understand and you will be missed. If we invited you to our union, you are deeply valued to us and we love you dearly. That being said, we want you to be happy, healthy and ready to come celebrate with us! We may do a live stream of the wedding if you would prefer to watch from the comfort of home, but If you do plan on making the journey- the COVID information for the Bahamas is below!

Our wedding and every event surrounding is completely outdoors as well.

As of January 2021, Everyone traveling to The Bahamas must obtain a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR (swab) test taken no more than 5 days prior to the date of arrival. The day the test is taken is considered day zero. Test must return a negative result for entry into The Bahamas.

Negative PCR test results must be uploaded in order to complete a Bahamas Health Visa application, and must be presented upon arrival in The Bahamas. Any person presenting test results older than 5 days will not be allowed entry into The Bahamas.

It does not matter if you are fully vaccinated, you will still need a NEGATIVE PCR TEST to complete your HEALTH VISA!

Once in possession of a NEGATIVE COVID-19 RT-PCR test, TRAVELERS CAN APPLY FOR THEIR REQUIRED BAHAMAS TRAVEL HEALTH VISA AT: travel.gov.bs/

As part of the Travel Health Visa application, travelers will be required to opt-in to COVID-19 health insurance that covers them for the duration of their stay in The Bahamas. The cost of insurance is included in the Travel Health Visa application fee. Travel Health Visa applications take up to 48 hours to process and should be completed with adequate lead time. The cost of the Travel Health Visa is dependent on length of stay.

all persons who enter The Bahamas or are traveling inter-island from Nassau & Paradise Island or Grand Bahama Island, and are staying in their destination for longer than four (4) nights and five (5) days will be required to take a rapid COVID-19 antigen test.
All visitors departing on or before day 5 will not be required to obtain this test.
The day of arrival is considered Day 1 of a person’s stay.
Daily Health Survey: All persons traveling into and throughout The Bahamas will be required to complete a short Health Survey each day for the first five days of their stay.
The survey must be completed upon arrival and each day thereafter for up to 14 days, or the duration of their stay, whichever is shorter.
This includes the day of departure, if traveling less than 14 days.

In order to gain entry back into the United States, as of right now, all are required to have a negative PCR test within 3 days of departure.

Our wedding venue is a registered testing site and have recruited several nurses to administer tests. They will be doing testing in groups of 20 to 30 as people arrive, insuring that each event is 100% COVID free.

Government policy is that if someone tests positive they immediately “vacation in place” which is a nice way of saying you will be confined to your room. It is then mandatory that they conduct a PCR test to detect infection (the rapid tests sometimes give off false positives). If the PCR comes back negative they can then return to festivities assuming they are welcome. If they test positive on the PCR the Bahamian government mandates that they quarantine for 14 days the cost of which is covered by the government for up to 700 dollars per day. Any Air BnB or Hotel is continued a quarantine site. Ocean View & The Other Side assured that if they have availability they can house them or assist in finding accommodations.
Once the PCR tests comes back positive, insurance will also kick into gear if they become symptomatic or if they have an underlying condition that will put them in greater risk if they become symptomatic. The insurance will cover a medical evacuation to the USA to the tune of up to 50k. We do have nurses and doctors both at Harbour island and Eleuthera that provide immediate service for anyone that becomes sick (COVID related or not) .
The new legislation is exactly what has prompted both venues to register as testing sites and develop a testing solution for our clients. Details are still being finalized but it’s possible the Bahamian Health visa will be rolled into the reentry test so that folks traveling would purchase it along with their visa and then obtain the test at registered test sites (such as OVC or TOS, or the other test sits on island). If they don’t bundle it in to the VISA process we’ll still be able offer tests to guests for entry back home.

I can assure you we are making every effort to make this as safe & enjoyable as humanly possible. If this information does not put you at ease, and you still feel uncomfortable than we completely understand if you can't make it. We are trying to figure out a virtual set up as well, so you can always tune in from there!

Penn + Gian

Penn & Gian's love story began in Stamford, Connecticut back in 2017, at our beloved Bartaco. Gian and Penn met through a mutual friend over tacos and margaritas. Neither of them were looking for love at the time, but the moment they laid eyes on each other, the world stopped and suddenly, they knew love at first sight wasn't a myth after all.
Some flirtatious banter was exchanged back and forth all night, (even after Penn spilled an entire plate of Chicken Pimientos in her lap) and they shared their first kiss outside of the restaurant. They talked all night, delving into deep conversations about everything in their lives, conversation flowed easily, freely, and time seemed to stand still. Gian was living in Portland, Oregon at the time, and Penn in Greenwich, Connecticut, but for the week that Gian was home in Stamford for a visit, they saw each other every day after they met- and Gian even surprised Penn with a trip to a haunted house ( & if you know Penn, you know how much she loves Haunted Houses). Gian went back to Portland, and they face-timed every day and night, even until the sun would come up for Penn. They would fall asleep on the phone together, and just two months later, Penn booked a trip to Portland, Oregon, a place she never thought she would visit- the moment she landed Gian took her straight to Multonomah Falls, and then to the Oregon Coast..and they adventured around the city for 10 days, and those 10 days went by so fast, and when they came to an end, neither of them wanted it to end. One night after some drinks, Gian asked Penn to move to Portland, and the very next day she found an apartment and signed a lease, less than a month later- Penn became Portland's newest resident, & the rest is history!

3 years worth of travels, adventures, memories & a dog named Kush later, Gian popped the question on October 10th, 2019  while whale watching in Vancouver, B.C. and Penn said yes. They love to say, "10 out of 10, we would do it again!" and they will.

They have survived planning a wedding through a pandemic, and if they can do that, they can do anything!

WE LOVE YOU AND WE CAN'T WAIT TO CELEBRATE WITH YOU ALL!

our biggest adventure yet, May 1 2021!
