Ben Lomond

Ben Lomond is the most southerly Munro (mountain over 3,000ft/914m), at 3,193ft/974m. It’s one of the most popular hill-walks in Scotland.

The mountain is a central, prominent feature of the landscape of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, together with its namesake loch.

The summit is the highest part of the area of land in the care of the National Trust for Scotland, which also includes the woodlands and fields of the lower slopes, peatland and moorland, and the crags and steep slopes of the high ground.

Look out for wildlife including ptarmigan and ravens, skylarks and wheatears, black grouse and even pine martens.

There’s also a wealth of history to be discovered, particularly on the lower slopes but even in the name of the mountain itself!
