When Dayo first spotted Tito, he immediately contacted a mutual friend (Seun Kelani) to get the scoop. Thankfully, Tito got rave reviews from Seun, so Dayo decided to reach out. It took some time for Tito to respond. She had no idea what was going on behind the scenes.
When Tito got back to Dayo, his response was, "Finally!!!" Tito had no idea what she was walking into, but in the time between the conversation with Seun and Tito responding, Dayo was doing his research and due-diligence like all good lawyers and becoming more convinced that Tito was truly special.
During their first date, it was Tito's turn to be wowed. Dayo was coming from church, sharply dressed and confident, as always. She was totally blown away by Dayo's rare combination of ambition and aspirations to serve others. They connected over their mutual love of their home country, Nigeria, and their irrevocable desire to help the people there. Tito loved that Dayo used his talent as a multi-instrumentalist to lead worship at church and also work with young adults. Dayo loved that Tito was devoted to her faith and had strong ties to her community.
Tito called her sister immediately after this date. She couldn't stop thinking about the incredible man that she just met and hoped he wasn't too good to be true. And Dayo, confident and assured as ever, called his family to tell them that he had found the woman he would marry.
The two of them quickly fell in love. It felt effortless. They prayed. They met and spoke with their families and friends. And they started to talk about what life would look like together
On September 7, 2019, Dayo proposed to Tito while they were visiting her family in Winnipeg. It was a total surprise. He proposed at a restaurant and had planned, with Tito's family, a surprise engagement party that greeted them when they got home. It was such a beautiful moment to share with so many special people.
