The Cast family enjoyed Thanksgiving 2017 in Tulsa, OK as Spencer’s brother, Logan, was in the midst of pharmacy school. Spencer, also in the midst of graduate school, was taken to the nearby Panera to write a research proposal. In walks Michael. The two struck up conversation, ending with Michael asking Spencer on a date... that night. Spencer agrees and they have a wonderful dinner together, never really expecting to see each other again.
After nearly 2 months of texting and FaceTime calls, Michael made the first road trip (of many) from Tulsa, OK to Birmingham, AL. Spencer and her roommate showed Michael and his friend all the sights of Birmingham, including The Vulcan, Botanical Gardens and of course dinner at Taco Mama. It was then that both Spencer and Michael realized they had something special and decided to continue to pursue an exclusive relationship.
Michael made the trip to Wisconsin to celebrate a close family friends’ wedding and Christmas with Spencer’s family. Michael was welcomed warmly and handled Spencer’s loud and loving family very well. Spencer fell more in love with Michael as she saw him interact with her family and friends.
After Spencer graduated with her Master's degree in May 2018, she moved in with her grandparents in Tulsa, OK to be closer to Michael and really make sure that they wanted forever with each other. As Spencer and Michael learned more about each other and created new memories, they fell deeper in love.
In July, Spencer moved back home to Orlando, Florida which meant back to long distance dating. Spencer and Michael were so confident in their love and commitment, Michael took the first step in asking Spencer’s dad for permission to propose. A little known fact: Spencer’s dad gave Michael a “conditional yes” so Michael asked for Spencer’s hand in marriage twice!
Spencer flew to Birmingham, Alabama for a simple girls weekend with her two best friends. Spencer thought she was going to drinks at a rooftop bar in Downtown Birmingham before a tasty dinner with the girls. Michael completely took her by surprise, as Spencer thought Michael was at a week long work conference. In complete shock, Spencer took a triple take at the handsome man waiting for her with beautiful flowers. After some sweet words, Michael got down on one knee and asked Spencer to marry him - which of course she said YES!
