How it all began ...

It was Fall 2012 at George Mason University - I tagged along with one of my roommates to visit her friends who happened to be Robert's roommates at the time. Their dorm quickly became the hangout spot for all our friends.

Over the next year Robert and I became close friends. He would drive me places since I didn't have a car on campus and I would use my meal plan to buy him Chick-Fil-A.  When reflecting on my time in college I'm always so thankful to have met Robert!

There's no distance too far...

We started dating in June 2014. It is amazing to see how much we've grown as individuals and a couple, from both of us working hard in our careers, to getting closer to each other's families and becoming a stronger and closer couple.

Some of my favorite memories are of our travels together and I'm excited to  see more of the world with Robert by my side! Over the past 5 years we've racked up MANY miles traveling back and forth to see each other between Northern Virginia and Lynchburg. So we're definitely excited to finally live in the same city together.

How I asked . . .

After years of being together, we both knew we wanted to get married and in September of 2020, I popped the question! With the pandemic going on, I had postponed proposing for a few months. When it was the right time I decided to keep it low key and simple, which I knew Sherika would want. With the help of some of her close friends, we decorated my apartment, filling it with balloons and balloon letters spelling out "Will you marry me?" with pictures of us hung around the walls.

Sherika says she knew it was coming, but I still think I surprised her! After I proposed, we met our immediate families at the restaurant of our first date, Maggiano's, for a small engagement celebration. It was one of the best days of my life.
