Introduced on Bumble, met at a a bar, and our first conversation consisted of traveling in South America. Who knew two years later we would have packed up the car and headed south?
Shawna messaged Jason about some cheap flights to Iceland and he said it sounded cool. 30 minutes later tickets landed in his inbox. We were off on our first international trip together. It was there they discovered their compatible traveling styles and love for adventure. It was a good sign for travels yet to come.
About halfway through our trip in South America we decided we wanted to purchase a van. Shawna jokingly sent Jason an ad for a 1984 VW Vanagon, as she knew that was his dream vehicle. Little did she know that 2 months later just before New Year's they would be purchasing 'Rudy.' This van would take them the rest of the way through South America, through Patagonia to the furthest point south in Ushuaia. Then take them back north to some dazzling heights while traversing the Andes and almost took them to the bottom of Lake Titicaca before being shipped back to the US where she now resides with them in Oakland.
It had to be Friday! The 13th that is.
Shawna was hangry (hungry/angry) after a long drive down to Joshua Tree. Jason was trying to keep it together after she yelled at him for not packing the cream cheese and crackers. Seeking a beautiful sunset, the two climbed a wind swept hill to get a great view. While Shawna hid behind a rock to stay warm, Jason mustered up the courage to pop the question. It was so cold, they couldn't even finish a drink but it didn't make the moment any less special.
