While Hatteras Island is not exactly known for its top-notch cuisine, good food can be found! Here are some recommendations for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
BREAKFAST
The Orange Blossom (in Buxton) - there may be a line, but the pastries and breakfast sandwiches are AMAZING. Very well known for their apple uglies.
Fatty's Eatery (in Buxton) - a casual sit-down restaurant for things like eggs and bacon, waffles, or shrimp and grits.
LUNCH
The Frisco Sandwich Company (in Frisco) - our top choice for sandwiches, wraps, and salads... the daily special is always good, and so is the local tuna.
Conner's Supermarket (in Buxton) - they run hot lunch specials everyday and have a wall of grab-and-go type items, as well as essentials like chips and beer!
DINNER
Dinky's (in Hatteras Village) - upscale waterfront atmosphere, entrees average $25-$30, but large portions and delicious! Not the best for large parties without a reservation.
Pangea Tavern (in Avon) - entrees run around $20-$25, although you can get burgers or tacos for $15. They can easily handle large groups, although you may have to wait without a reservation.
