In the Summer of 2018, we both holidayed in Dingle, a small port side town in the South West of Ireland. We bumped into each other at the infamous Dick Mack's Pub (Google it; it's a hardware shop come cobbler store turned festive and quaint pub). Big thanks to Susan, she's an excellent wing-woman!
We stayed in contact over the next 3 months. In that time, we made plans to holiday together for a week in Turkey that October. This was us in Istanbul with the Blue Mosque behind us. Here we officially became a couple!
We embarked on a long distance relationship (Dublin-Dubai). Consequently, holiday meet ups every 3 months or so became a regular occurrence for us. This is a picture of us at the Colosseum in Rome around a year after we met.
After many video calls and too much time apart for our liking, Matthew finally made the move to Dubai! This is us pictured at The Lourve in Abu Dhabi. Since then, we've adopted an adorable toy poodle named Luas who brings us so much joy!
Two and half years after our Dingle 'meet cute', we went on a camping trip in the Ras Al Khaima Mountains in the UAE, with our wee dog Luas in tow. Next to the campfire a romantic proposal ensued. Needless to say, we were delighted to be engaged! This is us celebrating our engagement, taking in Dubai's epic skyline.
Whilst technology helped us to celebrate our engagement with so many of you over video calls, we still found ourselves away from our beloved family and friends. Nothing would mean more to us than having you with us in South Africa on our wedding day!
Here's hoping for a big contingent from Ireland and South Africa alike for great craic (South Africans look up 'craic'), it'll be St. Patrick's Day after all!
