Nick and Roma met each other during their time in Atlanta. Roma was in the midst of completing her Nurse Practitioner program at Emory University, while Nick was in his ophthalmology residency also at Emory. It was late in 2016 when they decided to get pizza together, with Nick attempting to show that pizza in Atlanta compares to pizza in New Jersey (full disclosure: it does not!). Dinner led to dessert, and the conversation never stopped throughout the evening! Roma and Nick’s chemistry was captivating immediately and they started dating soon after their first date.
Over the following months, Nick showed Roma Atlanta’s vibrant culture as they both explored Atlanta’s best restaurants, festivals, and markets (even with Nick’s bizarre lengthy residency hours). Roma completed her Nurse Practitioner program at the end of 2017, with the plan for her to move back to New Jersey to study for her boards and start her career. It was after Roma’s move that both Nick and Roma really started to understand the saying “Distance only makes the heart grow fonder”. Their relationship continued to grow as Nick completed his residency. The accomplishment was accentuated by a surprise “graduation” party in Atlanta that was carefully planned and executed by Roma, including family and friends from all over the country (and India)!
The distance made Roma and Nick appreciate every minute they had together and realize that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with one another. In December of 2018, Roma came to Atlanta to celebrate Nick’s birthday, but Nick had different plans. With the help of both sets of parents and some wonderful friends, Nick proposed at their dinner table overlooking the city of Atlanta, returning the favor of the surprise! She said YES! Soon after the excitement was contained, wedding planning began for what will undoubtedly be a wonderful celebration with all of YOU, our family and closest friends. We cannot wait to share this special day with you!
