Updates

Please refer to this page for updates as our big day approaches. All announcements and important information we need to communicate to you will be posted here.

We've added some things... check them out below!  - xoxo Rob & Sam (12/13/23)

To Do List

Check your Email!

Wedding Invitations: In honor of Rob's favorite color (but mostly for efficiency) we are going GREEN! Our wedding invitations are paperless and were delivered to your email via Greenvelope on December 11th.

*** You must respond to the final RSVP and menu selection questions attached to the invitation no later than January 8th to be included in our special day. Due to our vendors' deadlines responses after this date will NOT be accepted.  ***

Please notify us if you are having any issues with adding menu selections with your RSVP. These should populate automatically, but we are finding that if you have opened your invitation without responding to all questions right away it is not bringing those choices up when you go back in to complete your RSVP later. There is a way for us to enter them manually and can do so if you are experiencing this issue.

Excursions: We know that for many of our guests traveling in from the US, South Africa is a once in a lifetime, bucket list locale. Thus, we want you to experience everything this unique destination has to offer! Travel House Africa is on hand to assist you with turning the adventures of your wildest dreams into reality.

Please be on the lookout for a PDF document in your email from us (rosrobert@gmail.com) detailing excursion options and hotel pricing through Travel House Africa.

Important Travel Information

Come prepared!

Passports: To enter South Africa, it is required to have a valid passport with at least 6 months of validity from the date of travel.

Immunizations: It is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for US travelers to ensure certain immunizations are current prior to traveling to South Africa. Follow the link below for these recommendations and speak with your doctor about what is right for you.

Attire

What to wear...

Attire for this event is Black Tie optional.

Gentlemen, feel free to don a full tuxedo or a dark suit with an open neck shirt, whichever you prefer.

Ladies, elegant formal gowns are recommended. Block heels or wedges are advised to help you navigate the mostly grass covered property.

Sam has waited 34 years to tell Rob she'll be "the one in white" on the big day. Despite recent trends we are seeing, and in keeping with tradition, it is our request that ladies please refrain from wearing any shade of white to our ceremony and reception.

Transportation

Shuttle service to the venue is provided in Cape Town.

Shuttles depart promptly at 3:30 PM from two locations:

The Bay Hotel
69 Victoria Rd, Camps Bay, Cape Town, 8001, South Africa

Colin Eglin Sea Point Public Library
1 Three Anchor Bay Rd, Three Anchor Bay, Cape Town, 8005, South Africa

Parking at the venue is unpaved. We strongly advise our guests to utilize the shuttle service. Should you choose to drive, you will observe signage to direct you to parking as you approach the property.

A pre-ceremony cocktail hour will greet you upon arrival.

Safety

Because we've had some questions...

Many of you have asked us about safety concerns. Our advice is to utilize the same caution when out and about in Cape Town just as you would in any other place foreign to you. Always be aware of your surroundings, do not go exploring alone, try to stay in groups when out at night, and do your best to keep cash and valuables concealed from public view.

Theft is unfortunately a common occurrence. It has been reported to us that thieves are as bold as to tear a necklace off of your neck as you walk by, and small children are known take cell phones left sitting on the table as you dine. We strongly suggest not wearing jewelry or watches when out and about, and securing your phone and other belongings on your person at all times.

FAQ & Other

Other tidbits as we think of them...

Shark Diving - might not be worth it. Whether its the overfishing to meet Australia's demand for fish 'n chips, or Orcas "Port" and "Starboard's" unsatiable appetite for liver pate, South Africa's Great White Shark population has drastically declined in recent years.

Update: All hope might not be lost for those of you determined to come face to face with Jaws.
