Some friends and I were camping at Wilson's Prom, a national park surrounded by beautiful beaches down the Victorian coast.
James was at the next site over camping with his friends... I remember hearing him before I saw him, he had the loudest laugh and when we met the biggest smile to match it.
We all went down to the beach on our second last night for a bonfire, I thought maybe this could be the chance to talk to him. Walking there, he made general chit chat...but was more interested in his soccer ball than anything else....so of course I became interested in that soccer ball.
We split away from the group, slightly down the beach and chatted for almost an hour before one of them screamed at him, for * sake, just kiss her already!
The next day when we leaving we said bye and I thought that was it, then out of the corner of my eye I saw him running over. He asked if he could see me again.
Over the last decade we've grown into the adults we are today, together. We’ve survived the best & the worst, lasted through long distance separation and finally moved to the other side of the world.I look forward to starting our next chapter together, knowing that we'll be looking at the stars and laughing together for many more years to come...
Anj and I have been together for over a decade from teenagers to real adults (30!)
We've been through university, studied hard, made lots of friends, stayed up too late, partied too much....
We went through 1 post grad, studied hard, made lots of friends, stayed up too late, partied too much ......
We went through Anj moving to Albury for a year and a half, where she worked hard, made lots of friends, stayed up too late, partied too much
We began our first jobs, worked hard, made lots of friends, stayed up too late, partied too much...
We moved into our first apartment and then....we had all those friends over at ours, staying up late, partying too much...
So we had to escape ! move to London!
So we've moved to London, worked hard, travelled everywhere, stayed up late everywhere, made lots of friends everywhere, partied too much everywhere...Looking back we've had such great fun and looking forward to having that fun forever.
We’d just moved in to our new apartment the month earlier. Anyone who knows our troubles with room mates in London, will know we were so happy to finally have our own space again.
It was a Monday and it’d be a long day, I was home late. James was in the kitchen microwaving sweet potatoes for us to try to make sweet potato gnocchi. He hadn’t changed out of his work shirt & chinos, but had an apron on (looking every bit the home maker). I flung my Tupperware in his direction on my way to the bedroom to get changed.
Once in my PJ’s I made my way back to the kitchen and went to pour myself a glass of wine. James called out “why don’t you open the champagne?”. We had so many bottles of champagne after the move, celebrating our liberty, so was always a cold bottle available.
“Why? Did you get a promotion!?”, “no”. Then when I turned around he was down on one knee “you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, will you marry me?”
We never finished making the gnocchi...but made it through 2 bottles of French champagne...
