Our Town
THE SKY REALLY IS BLUER HERE
.....thanks to less water vapor at a mile above sea level:)
Colorado weather can also be unpredictable any time of year so it might not be a bad idea to arrive on Thursday if you're able and will help you get a head start on acclimating to our altitude.
IYKYK: Regardless of your arrival date, locals and previous visitors alike know how dehydration can suck the fun out of anything. It's a good idea to drink more water than usual while coffee, soda, and beer/wine/cocktails can only dehydrate you faster without stepping up your water intake.
You'll also thank yourself by waiting out your first day in town to adjust to the lower oxygen and humidity before you dive into your first hike or celebratory beverage. Altitude sickness is no joke so don't let it get in the way of your festivities this weekend!
OUR TOP FIVE GO-TO'S (none too far from hotel blocks)
Devil's Food - darling bakery with the best coffee in town and old fashioned treats from scratch
The Cookery at Myrtle Hill - Devil's Food's big sister just a couple doors down serving up the same yum but meal-sized!
Joy Hill - killer pizza & clever cocktails, even better on their patio with an epic view of the rockies
Bonnie Brae Ice Cream - made right on site! Must try Cappucino Crunch!
Parisi - scene of the crime and a family fav located on the north side of Denver so more like a 20ish minute drive but totally worth it!
Plenty more spots we can send you, just ask!
PRO TIP: Alcoholic beverages pack more of a punch here than at sea level!
Check these out, just a 5-10 minute drive from our reception:
Irish Rover
The Historian
Novel Strand Brewing
The Badger
Denver Beer Co.
Stranahan's Distillery
EXPLORE THE OUTDOORS but don't forget the sunscreen!
Yes we are known for world-class skiing but it's not the only way to enjoy our 300 days of sunshine a year!
Washington Park - one of the best local parks for soaking up the sun! Plenty to do (or watch!) here with a 2.6 mile jogging/biking path, two playgrounds, tennis courts, croquet, and two lakes!
Red Rocks Amphitheatre - not just a famous concert venue a quick 10 miles west of Denver, head here for some spectacular views & trails then come back this summer to take in a show with us!
Mount Falcon - if you're up for a moderate workout, try Taylor's favorite trail to run overlooking Red Rocks
Colorado Hot Springs! If you're spending an extra day in our state, venture out to one of these spots for an outdoor winter experience that doesn't require a lift ticket!
...LIKE A LOCAL
Quaint little tree-lined blocks with charming local merchants at Old Gaylord Street or Old South Pearl !
Cherry Creek North if you're feeling fancy!
Larimer Square - this little treasure is iconic Denver and its first designated historic district.
Or don't miss some of Denver's newer destinations over by the ballpark:
MacGregor Square - hoppin' entertainment district right outside Coors Field
Dairy Block - an indoor gem featuring bougie Maven Hotel and local shops, restaurants and bars, as well as a super fun pedestrian alley!
Rino (aka River North Arts District) - urban charm meets industrial revival! Need an art fix or some outdoor gear? Easily kill a day here, lost in denver's art scene including giant art murals, innovative distilleries, breweries and restaurants or go broke at Patagucc!
Can't go wrong with Denver's museums or the zoo either!
