Megan's Story

Our story began in late 2021 when Megan swiped right on Bryan. It was an instant match and Megan had 24 hours to make the first move on Bumble. When we finally decided to meet, Bryan suggested Blind Barber for cocktails and while I was walking to the bar, he texted that it was closed for a private event. Finding a bar in the midst of holiday party season proved to be quite the challenge! We then decided to meet at Emporium in hopes it wouldn’t be closed for a private event. I remember chatting on the phone with my friend Victoria while walking over to meet Bryan and said, I like wine, my hair is in a ponytail and we’re meeting at an arcade bar!! This will be interesting. From Emporium to Federales to PB&J, we conquered the 20- something year old bars in the West Loop.

That weekend we went bar hopping through the city to see all the Christmas bars and enjoyed live music at Bub City. Tuesday rolls around and I am supposed to go meet my sister and Mike at Butch McGuire’s followed by dinner at Girl & The Goat when Bryan encourages me to test for Covid. I insisted I had a cold and not the flu, so it couldn’t be covid. I finally decided to test before seeing my family and it was immediately positive. I still believe Bryan gave me Covid since he was catching all the strands, but we’ll never know. I cancelled my Christmas plans with my family visiting Chicago from California and spent the next 10 days testing positive daily and quarantining with Bryan and Cali. Yes, Bryan also had Covid, but recovered after 4 days since he’s a five-star athlete.

Bryan’s friend Sam joined us at Bub City over the weekend, so we quickly told him we both tested positive. He then tested and of course had Covid. We invited Sam over to quarantine and I impressed them with a remarkable lasagna for us on Christmas Day. Little did Bryan know that would be the first and last elaborate meal I cooked for him…just kidding! We then played random games while FaceTiming my family as I claimed I was with grad school friends and not two dudes I just met a week ago.

Next thing I know, Cali has moved into Bryan’s condo and the rest is history.

Bryan and Cali are my Covid silver linings, and I thank Omicron for bringing us together!

Bryan asked me to marry him on April 28, 2023 on the Chicago Riverwalk while walking Cali with friends and family watching from Wacker Drive. The celebration continued all day and night and if that is any indication of the wedding weekend, it’s going to be a fun and memorable time celebrating in Cabo!

Celebrating Christmas in January

Bryan's Story

It all started with a swipe right on a dating app and then some casual chatter back and forth for a while. Months later, Bryan asked Megan to get together after sharing a picture of a beach vacation he was on in early December.
After trying to keep it classy and plan an elaborate first meet up for drinks at Blind Barber-the night was turned upside down when Bryan realized it was closed for a private event. Thinking outside the box, Bryan picked a location across the street that he would soon learn was an awful choice and a place where Megan would normally never step foot in. The wine selection was not sufficient, but Bryan’s charm locked her in for a fun night exploring some of the best dive bars in the West Loop. Once Bryan met Cali later, it was game on! Bryan often jokes that Cali might have been the only reason he swiped Right to begin with.

It was a week of fun nights out until we were trapped together for Christmas just 10 days after having our first date-thanks to Covid! We had a house gathering with our chaperone, Sam Gray, and had a great Christmas together in Chicago.

Shortly after, Cali moved into Bryan’s condo in Chicago, and we began spending the majority of the week and weekend together.

After traveling the world and Megan moving in, Bryan asked Megan with a complete surprise on the Chicago Riverwalk with family and friends in town. For those of you who know Megan, just the fact a surprise was pulled off was a miracle-never mind her saying YES! Her family jokes that it was the worst kept surprise ever, but surprising Megan was a huge success.

We can’t wait to celebrate with you all and have the time of our lives together in Mexico-Vamos!
