Madison and her Mother (Renita) came to visit the School of Forensic Sciences at Oklahoma State University on June 2nd, 2014. Matthew, who was a student at the time, was asked to give them a tour of campus. Either his excellent introduction to the school or his good looks (or a combination of these) helped Madison decide to enroll that upcoming Fall.

This may or may not come as a surprise, but Madison was the one who had the courage to ask Matthew out on their first date! She asked him to go to a concert at the Brady Theater in downtown Tulsa to see Alice In Chains. Matthew was not familiar with 90's "grunge" music, but they had a blast! From July 31, 2015, Madison and Matthew have been inseparable.

Can I get a hot tub?! Matthew finally asked Madison to be his girlfriend on January 2nd, 2016. They spent the New Year holiday in Midlothian, Texas at her Mother's old house. While drinking coffee in the hot tub that morning, they officially became a couple!

On Halloween morning 2020, Matthew woke Madison up earlier than she would have liked on a Saturday, and asked her to spend the rest of their lives together! Not only was it "about time" that he proposed, but also, the way Matthew popped the question was similar to a scene from one of their favorite movies, "About Time." After some tears and many deep breaths to recover from the excitement, Madison and Matthew drove to Luella, Texas to celebrate their engagement. The small group of family and friends welcomed them in style and they partied and camped out under the stars!

Matthew was able to propose with one of Madison's Grandmother's (Anita Ferman) favorite anniversary rings. Anita (Mamaw) passed away in 2015, and never got to meet Matthew. He was honored to bring Mamaw's soul and spirit into this special moment. Together, they used the Sapphire gemstone (Mamaw's birthstone) from the original ring to make Madison's engagement ring!
