Bem vindo a Portugal!

It probably comes as no surprise that when we decided to do this whole wedding thing, we decided to do it abroad. We absolutely fell in love with Portugal and are so excited to share it with all of you! Get ready for a weekend of adventure, great wine, food, fun and elevated surfaces. We do ask to please RSVP by March 5, 2021.

The Hotel

We've reserved a beautiful boutique hotel–Monverde–in exclusivity amongst the vineyards of the Vinho Verde region in Portugal. Our hope is that everyone can join us for a long weekend over Labor Day. We'll have a lot to keep you busy and also time for you to explore this beautiful countryside.

Location

Monverde is located about 45 minutes west of Porto and 45 minutes north of the famed Douro river. The closest city is called Amarante and is about a 15 min taxi ride. There is a ton to do in the area (hiking, canyoning, wine tasting, biking, etc. etc.) and on the property (more wine tasting, spa, pool, picnics in the vineyards).

Rooms

We've reserved the hotel in exclusivity. That means that the property and all of its rooms are for us and us only. To make things easy, we've packaged a lot up for you. Rates on this page are based on a 3-night stay and include:

•Transportation from Porto on Sept 3 and back to Porto on Sept 6

•Dinner and drinks on Friday, Sept. 3

•Breakfast Sat, Sun & Mon

•Your accommodations

To book your room, please email danielbarreiro@monverde.pt, with the subject “Liz and Taylor’s Wedding – September 3-6." You will not be able to book directly through the site. To check out the room types, click the link below. Please note that rooms are first come, first served

Getting here

While Porto is not a direct flight from Boston, there are many options to get here. Lisbon, Madrid, Amsterdam, and Paris are all good hubs to arrive through. If you need help searching for flights – hit up Liz! Note – they are very reasonable right now. We would recommend booking as soon as you can!

Lisbon is a direct ~6H flight from Boston (the same as San Francisco!). Tap Portugal does offer a "stopover" option where you can book your flight to stay a few days and then travel to another location in Europe for no additional charge. If you choose this option and/or decide to fly to Lisbon and spend some time there, there are a few ways to get yourself up north to Porto:

•Drive to Porto (2h40m) or direct to Monverde (3h17m) – there is free parking onsite

•Fly to Porto after a quick stop in Lisbon (55M flight)

•Take a train up to Porto from Lisboa – Oriente in the city (2h35m ride)

We're offering transportation from Porto on Friday, Sept 4. We'll do pickups at the airport and somewhere in the city. We'll be aiming to depart by 11AM, so please try to arrive earlier. Details to follow.
