Jit and Lauren were in the same dental school class for 4 years, but it originally wasn't supposed to be so. Jit was ready to start work as a mechanical engineer during the summer of 2013, until he got a call to join the dental class at the last minute! Our story may have looked quite different if this hadn't happened by chance!
Lauren and Jit never truly met each other until the summer before the 2nd year of dental school in San Antonio! They remained friends throughout dental school, becoming better friends as time went on. By the time the end of 4th year rolled around, Lauren even discovered that she had Jit's name misspelled in her phone for the past 3 years! Oops.
After graduation, everyone went their separate ways. Lauren to Dallas for orthodontic residency, and Jit to Houston to work as a dentist and apply for residencies. Around residency interview time and match day for Jit, Lauren and Jit reconnected in Dallas and realized that they are the missing piece in each other's lives.
With long conversations on the phone, and numerous trips back and forth from Dallas to Shreveport, Lauren and Jit dated long distance for a while. When it came time for Lauren's residency graduation, she decided to take a leap of faith to move to Shreveport, Louisiana to be closer to Jit (since he had 4 more years of residency at the time!) Of course, this move was right at the beginning of COVID lockdowns.
Jit wanted the proposal to be a surprise, but knew Lauren did not want a public proposal. He made a reservation for Superior's Steakhouse on a Tuesday night- which right off the bat, Lauren figured this was where he was going to propose, because he never makes dinner reservations. He did not propose at dinner, but when they got home afterwards, he brought out a small cake for us to share. The ring was actually hidden inside the icing in the middle of the cake! Jit proposed, and Lauren said yes! (obviously)
Now we are joyfully planning our wedding for April 2022!
