Thank you Facebook

It is truly amazing looking back now that we had not met sooner. Our lives have danced so close to each other and yet kept us apart until the timing was right. We now tell stories of how we were both at the same events and yet were never introduced. Then realizing that our parents live only miles apart on the same country road. I guess the little age gap helped with this too lol.

We have the “people you may know” section to thank for finally connecting us. My new found independence gained me the courage to hit that button and send a friend request. And I am so glad I did!

Facebook allowed for great conversations and we decided to meet in person. A New Year’s Eve that neither of us will ever forget and we have been together since. So thank you Facebook for introducing us and starting an amazing friendship that turned into an even better relationship.

I asked and she said yes!

I proposed to Tatiana on December 14th, 2018 while on a trip in NYC. We started our day by going to see A Christmas Spectacular at Radio City, going to the Rockefeller center to see the tree, and walking around the city to do some shopping. It was the typical tourist holiday NYC trip. I had all intentions on dropping down on the ice rink in front of the Rockefeller tree but the line was 3+ hrs long and standing room near the tree was not an option so that idea was shot. So I had to think on my toes of what the back up plan would be.

Then after a great day we got back to our beautiful corner hotel room with amazing views of the city all twinkling in the night sky. I realized this was the best plan all along to have this moment just for us and not in front of a bunch of strangers. I turned to ask her if she wanted us forever then dropped down on my knee and started searching my pockets. Small moment of panic as I realized the ring was still in my jacket across the room so at this point she did not believe it was even really happening.

So after crawling across the floor on my knees to retrieve the ring I asked again, so that she would believe me this time. So after a couple fumbles in my plans I put the ring on her finger and she said "yes"! We will forever cherish this night and the giggles we shared as both our hearts were pounding because the moment fit us so well.

The first adventure

Before we were officially a couple we became really great friends. In May 2017 I wanted to get a different vehicle. A friend of mine worked for a dealership and found me the car I was looking for, but it was a standard. Kurt made the trip with me to go pick up my Jeep near Seneca lake. I had a small panic attack realizing I bought a car I couldn’t drive. Kurt was able to calm me and in the Walmart parking lot taught me to drive a stick. He was an amazing teacher! We then got to have some celebratory drinks on the lake and take in the views. It was this weekend that made us realize how great we are together and we made it official shortly after.
