We met on April 17th, 2014 at the Jane Hotel in New York City. Kristen had just finished another tax busy season and was ready to celebrate! She went to meet her bridesmaid, Ashley R., and Joao was there to celebrate a friend's birthday (we love you, Flora!). We bumped into each other at the bar, Joao offered to buy Kristen a drink, and we danced the night away!
We celebrated Joao's MBA graduation in May 2015. This is where Kristen first met the Nunes de Almeida family, and she fell in love with their warmth and enthusiasm. She finally knew where Joao got all of his energy!
Joao's first official trip with the Hageman family was to Cabo (big thanks to Uncle Al for hosting!). After a weekend of fishing, exploring, and eating with the Hageman's, Joao was hooked!
Five years after meeting on the dance floor, Joao surprised Kristen with a trip to Paris. He proposed on the first day and Kristen said "YES....Finally!" Joao had planned every detail of the weekend, down to a surprise photographer for engagement photos.
