kevin and khussbu

Khussbu and I first met 9 years ago in college at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I remember seeing her at a meet-and-greet event with her friends but it wasn’t until months later at Navratri Garba that our friendship really began.

Raas just started when I saw Khussbu. She walked in wearing a blue outfit and a big smile on her face as she watched everyone have a great time. I tried to convince her to join me but she was stubborn! (We all know how much she doesn't enjoy garba!) We ended up spending more time that evening chatting and getting to know each other. The night ended with lots of laughs and of course Taco Bell! It was at that moment I knew we would get along just fine :)
From studying for tests together to trips to the beach, Khussbu and I became good friends! Before we were both headed home for the summer, I wanted to do something special so I surprised her with a date to the aquarium and asked her to be my girlfriend.
Fast forward a year, I started medical school in Tampa, FL, while Khussbu started optometry school back in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I remember skipping Friday lectures to go and spend long weekends with her, while she would do the same. Although it was tough being apart, we were both lucky to have the support of friends and family. I was especially lucky to have a second home in Tampa as Khussbu's parents and relatives were just across the bay in St. Pete and took me in as one of their own. She would often have FOMO (fear of missing out) whenever she would see me hanging out with her family, but I knew it secretly put a smile on her face.
Over these 7 years, our story has been filled with memories of love, family, accomplishments, and travel. We took many trips together but the best had to be when I asked her to marry me in Rome, Italy!
