About the Bride & Groom

Tyler grew up in sunny & beautiful Crawfordsville, Indiana as a child. He then made the decision to defect from everything Crawfordsville and traveled all the way to Greencastle, IN to attend DePauw University for his undergraduate education. Later, Tyler went on to attend Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa where he would obtain his medical degree.

Kate grew up in Dyer, Indiana and went to Purdue University for her bachelor's degree. She then went on to attend podiatry medical school in Chicago, Illinois.

Kate and Tyler met through a mutual friend, which just so happened to be Kate's co-resident. As fate would have it, before they met, neither of them thought they would ever date another doctor as their lives are so hectic throughout residency. The two hit it off and became friends quickly. Tyler staged the progression from friendship to relationship perfectly, first asking Kate to be friends on Facebook (ah, the millennials!), then asking for a phone number, which evolved into texting each other wondering if they would both be at the same hangout every weekend. Finally, Tyler got up the courage to ask Kate on a first date and the rest was history! (cliché, I know- but it's a wedding website, what else can you expect?) *Cue the eyeroll*

Their lives gelled perfectly together and the two became a team from the get-go--when one was on call, the other picked up the slack. This whole, I'm-never-dating-another-doctor mentality quickly became a thing of the past.

The Proposal Story

We had planned a get away in January of 2019 with friends from medical school. We went to Cabo San Lucas. Unbeknownst to me, Tyler had bought the ring back in November and hid it in plain sight. Anyway...when going through TSA, Tyler's backpack got pulled to be searched...imagine his surprise when I was standing literally right next to him in the airport, and he (I later found this out) had the ring in one of the pockets of the backpack. He turned to me and said, "Why don't you go sit over there" and pointed to the bench seats about 30 feet away. At this moment I was *hopeful* that he had a secret that was very hard to keep. Our second night in Cabo, Tyler had asked me if I wanted to go down to the beach early in the morning the next day. As the day went on, Tyler seemed to grow increasingly stressed, and when asked what was wrong, he said he couldn't take his mind off of work. That evening after enjoying couples massages, playing sand volleyball for hours, a delicious dinner, a few alcoholic beverages, and listening to an awesome band play, Tyler asked to go down to the ocean. I looked at him and said..."Seriously? I thought we were going in the morning...it's dark and its 11:30PM, you sure you want to go down there now?" To which he retorted, "YES." So there we are, the ONLY two people on the beach in the middle of the night. Barefooted, we walk into the warm water of the Pacific Ocean and Tyler gets down on one knee and has the sweetest speech prepared. Nervously, and ever so perfectly, he asked me to be his wife. And I (OF COURSE!!!) say..."IT'S ALWAYS BEEN YES!". So there you have it. We were engaged, in Cabo, in probably the most romantic, perfect, *so us* way I could think of.

...by the way....it wasn't "work" that was stressing Tyler out. It was carrying the ring around the resort because he didn't want to keep it in the lock box in the room for me to find. He told me at one point I was looking right at him in our room with the ring box in his hand, and I didn't even notice.

Why Cabo San Lucas?

Cabo San Lucas is a sentimental spot for us, and we are so excited to share it with everybody! The resort we chose is perfect for adults and if you so choose to bring your children there are plenty of activities for everybody! The Hard Rock Los Cabos resort opened in July 2019, and the reviews are phenomenal!
