I first met Alexis while working together at Walmart. I thought she was so gorgeous, so I just had to speak up and say something. She walked by me eating sweet and salty mixed nuts, and “You are so gorgeous,” just came out of my mouth. She looked back with a big smile on her face and that’s how I knew she was going to be my wife. I saw Alexis later that night going home after her shift, and I just had to stop her and give her my number. Alexis reached out that same night. We continued to text and talk on the phone for a few weeks while acting like we weren’t already in love with each other at work.
Our first date was Red Lobster, and then we just rode around in her car for hours playing music and talking. The first thing that came to mind was “This is the life” while riding around in the city and talking about how our life was going to be, what our goals were in life, and what we wanted to do. It was an amazing conversation, and there was so much more to Alexis I just had to know.
Alexis and I made things official April 25th, 2012, but it wasn’t only us, Alexis had a daughter, Morgan. Morgan was two years old when I came into her life and seeing her for the first time was amazing. She walked up to me and said “Hi there!” and told me her full name, then asked if I wanted to play with her toys! Being a big kid I said “Yes”, and it was history after that.
After being together for almost 2 years, on June 7th Alexis told me we were having a baby and Man oh man! That was the best news to hear at that time. Wishing for a child and becoming a father was something I always wanted. On March 20th, 2014, at 9 AM, my son Carter Gurley came into this word.
On Match 16th , 2014 was the day of our baby shower and let me tell you that day was a pain. Alexis was just not having it and did not want to be around any one on top of that just was being mean, but I knew it was because of her mood swings. The whole day I was trying to come up with what to say when I get on one knee. After we got done opening the gifts, I told everyone I had one more gift Alexis looked at me like what’s going on she did not know what was coming next. I went outside to get her ring out my car and while I was walking back in everyone was up and phones was out had me thinking to myself how anyone know what’s about to happen right now. I got on one knee and ask Alexis to be my wife and spend the rest of her life with me.
