Flights

Sonoma County Airport (STS)

This small airport is the closest to our wedding. Flights may be limited or require a connection, but can SOMETIMES be surprisingly competitive with prices of larger destination airports.

Service by Alaska, American, United, and Sun Country.

Passenger rail service available to downtown Petaluma via SMART (see info below)

25 miles from downtown Petaluma (30 minutes)

San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

Most international and cross country flights will fly into SFO.

Service by most major airlines, as well as local carriers Southwest, JetBlue, Alaska.

54 miles from downtown Petaluma (generally an hour and 15 minutes, but can double during rush hour)

Oakland International Airport (OAK)

Many domestic and some international flights fly into Oakland. It is a smaller and more manageable airport than SFO, and about the same distance.

Service by several major airlines, including Delta, American, Southwest, JetBlue, Alaska, and Spirit.

53 miles from downtown Petaluma (generally an hour and 15 minutes, but can double during rush hour)

Rental Cars

Sonoma County is easiest navigated by car. We recommend renting a car to drive from the airport and to get around town, or making arrangements to carpool with other wedding guests.

Airport Shuttle

Airport Express is a bus service from SFO and OAK Airports to various towns in Sonoma County. They have a stop at the Petaluma Fairgrounds, which may end up being the closest to your accommodations. From there, you'd likely need to Lyft or Uber to get to your hotel or rental, or it's a 12 minute walk to the Hampton Inn Petaluma.

Price: $38 each way between SFO or OAK and Petaluma

Driving

For those traveling from other parts of California, you may consider driving.

Petaluma is approximately 7 hours from Los Angeles via the 5 freeway, the 580 and the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge ($6 toll) and the 101.

Rideshare and Taxis

Lyft, Uber, or local services like J's Taxi or Bill's Taxi are options for getting around as well. Keep in mind that because cell service is limited in more rural areas, you might not always have the ability to summon a car when traveling further afield.

Armstrong Woods has limited cell service, AT&T works best. There is no cell phone service at Chileno Valley Ranch.

SMART

Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART)

Offers passenger rail service in Sonoma and Marin Counties, stops at both Sonoma County Airport and downtown Petaluma. Disability accessible, bikes welcome on board, children under 5 free.
