Our story started out like any romantic tale. We shared our first high school class together, World History. Jordan was assigned the seat in front of Eric. One day Eric asked, ever so kindly, "Do you mean for your hair to look like that?" And so, our great love story began (as well as, Jordan's lifelong anxiety with doing her hair).

We became fast friends and stayed close all through high school and college. The photo on the left (taken at Eric's 21st birthday party) is a perfect example of our mutual love and admiration we have for each other.

After high school, we spent the next five years apart as we pursued our education. However, in 2012, Eric came back home to Topeka. It was during this time that we reconnected, and quickly realized that our friendship never skipped a beat. That friendship continued to grow, and through our mutual love of movies, traveling, food, and high quality memes, we quickly realized that we couldn’t imagine being apart from each other, and decided to officially become a couple. With Eric’s new found appreciation for Jordan’s utterly perfect hair, we become inseparable.

As with most inseparable couples, we immediately separated as Eric moved to Washington, DC. Jordan fondly remembers this time as “the time Eric left me for medical school,” but the details are unclear. However, despite being over a thousand miles apart, we rarely left each others minds.

In 2016, after hundreds of hours talking on the phone, dozens of flights back and forth, and multiple packages of Kansas City barbecue later (to help with the “stress” of studying), our relationship took the next step and we moved in together. Jordan packed up her things and moved to DC. It was during this time that we realized that the love we had developed for each other had grown so strong that we knew it would last a lifetime.

The proposal happened on a peaceful winter weekend at Lake Geneva. After spending the night around the fire place, Eric pulled Jordan to the side of the lake and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. She said yes!

Now that we are taking the next step in our relationship, we can’t wait to celebrate our marriage with so many of our family and loved ones. We can’t wait to see you in Kansas City!
