Location

Our wedding weekend centers around the town of Healdsburg, located in Sonoma County, California.

Sonoma County, along with neighboring Napa and Mendocino counties, is considered California wine country. It is also part of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Getting In

The Bay Area (including Sonoma County) is served by San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport (OAK). There is also a smaller airport in Sonoma County, called the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS).

Sonoma County is:
- 75 miles and ~1.5 hour drive north of San Francisco International Airport.
- 76 miles and ~1.5 hours drive northwest of Oakland International Airport.

To get from the airport to Healdsburg in Sonoma County, we advise renting a car and driving. Consider carpooling with family or friends.

If you have an extra seat(s) or need a ride, please fill out our ridesharing spreadsheet to ensure that everyone makes it to Healdsburg.

Beware of rush hour traffic, particularly northbound from San Francisco in the late afternoon/early evening.

If you need to take public transit for part of your journey, please check this doc for more information. Also, you may wish to get in touch with Emily, who is the Public Transit Queen.

Getting Around

For Sonoma County and surrounding wine country, you’ll need a car.

For Healdsburg, consider parking your car and walking or renting a bicycle. Downtown Healdsburg is located 1.3 miles from the Dry Creek Inn, where we have our room block. This translates to ~5min drive, ~6min bike ride and ~20-25min walk.

Downtown Healdsburg centers around a green commons and is quite enjoyable to explore on foot.

For the Ceremony & Celebration on Saturday, August 8th, we will run a bus shuttle between the Dry Creek Inn (Healdsburg) and the Mountain House Estate (event venue). You may also choose to drive yourself to Mountain House Estate. See the “Events” tab for more details.

Accomodation

We’ve reserved a room block at the Dry Creek Inn in Healdsburg, which we encourage people to use for accommodation! Please see the “Hotels” tab in our website menu for more information.

Weather

Sonoma County has a temperate, Mediterranean climate. In the summertime, expect very warm (often hot), sunny days, followed by cooler evenings as the fog rolls in from the coast. August sees an average high of ~88℉/31℃ and the average low of ~50℉/10℃, with zero days of rain.

Basically, dress for pleasant heat during the day, but come prepared with a jacket or wrap in the early mornings and later evenings.

*If you’re stopping in San Francisco, note that it is often much cooler in August than the surrounding Bay Area. Coastal areas (e.g., Big Sur, Santa Cruz) - though hot during the day - are also the first to see any fog in the evenings. Jeans, leggings under skirts, t-shirts, hoodies, light jackets… layers are key for the Northern California coast.
