How We Met

November 2013 - Ismaili National Sports Tournament - Tampa, FL

Ikrah: I drove to the tournament from Atlanta to “spectate” (AKA husband-hunt) the tournament.

Danish: I went to the tournament to coach the (winning) Dallas Titans basketball team. I’ve always known I would find my wife at an Ismaili tournament, so in 2007 Aamir Nathani (now a groomsmen) and I made a game of it. Aamir would point out the most attractive girl in the room and I would attempt one of my patented pickup lines. On this occasion, it worked.

Ikrah: After the tournament, Danish added me on Facebook. Within 10 minutes he had liked several of my old profile pictures and then messaged me “soooo... I guess I got caught creeping.”
Danish: I knew Ikrah was getting notifications for all my likes which would give me an excuse to message her.

Our First Date

February 14, 2014 - Twist Restaurant - Atlanta, GA

Ikrah: Over time, I learned Danish’s humor and wit extended far beyond his initial pickup line. Facebook messaging led to FaceTiming (Danish’s favorite means of communication), and FaceTiming led to a first date in Atlanta.

Danish: Since my friends and I can’t do anything alone, the three Aamir’s (or Aamir cubed as they like to be known) accompanied me to Atlanta.

Aamir Cubed= Aamir Bhai (coincidentally also on his first date with his now wife), Aamir Noorani, and Aamir Nathani

We’re Dating!

March 14, 2014 – Houston, TX | July 4, 2014 - Austin, TX

Ikrah: After a few dates, I infamously declared “WE ARE DATING” to Danish in March of 2014. Danish responded, “YOU can tell people we are dating” so naturally I told everyoneeee about my fab new boyfriend.

Danish: Ikrah “The Husband Hunter” wanted to make things official wayyy too quickly. For example, she wanted me to meet her parents after 1 month of talking. I was initially concerned about the long distance but by July 4th, I knew I had to ask her to be my girlfriend.

Dikrah: So when you ask us how long we have been together, don’t be surprised if you hear different responses!

Our Engagement

April 1, 2017 - The Villas of Grand Cypress – Orlando, FL

Ikrah: One of my favorite qualities in our relationship is our excellent communication with one another. So when Danish and I agreed that we’d wait until I finished nursing school to propose, of course, I believed him! I’m still amazed by the elaborate proposal Danish pulled off from across the country in Seattle!

Danish: Ikrah has always been gullible. The most gullible, some might say. I decided to propose on my favorite day of the year, April Fool’s Day. In the unlikely event that she said “no,” I had an out, “April Fools! I wasn’t proposing for real anyway."

Fun Fact: From 2014-2017 we racked up 109 flights bouncing all around the country to pursue our long distance relationship.

Our Wedding

July 6, 2019 – Seattle, WA

Dikrah: After nursing school, Ikrah moved to Seattle where we have been living (separately, Danish’s parents want this to be very clear) for the past 16 months. We are so excited to celebrate Danish’s 5 year anniversary on July 4th, 2019 with all of you!
