GEORGETOWN
For a more culturally immersive experience, stay in Georgetown where shophouses have been renovated into cool / boutique hotels.
Alternatively, AirBnB also offers some great options.
Download the Grab App (it's like South East Asia's Uber). Alternatively, taxis are also relatively affordable and metered.
We don't suggest renting a car unless you're willing to brave real-life Mario Karting.
Depending on where you stay, there may be shuttle routes arranged to & from the Tea Ceremony and the Wedding Ceremony venues. More details on this to come!
There's something for every palate. Here are some of our recommended dishes to try for any first-timers!
Note:
If you're eating street food (which we strongly recommend!) and have seafood or gluten allergies, please be sure to tell the stall owner as seafood & soy sauce are commonly used in Malaysian cooking.
We've mapped out the wedding events and some suggestions for things to do in this GOOGLE MAP.

Do I need to take out cash?
It's a good idea, especially if you plan on eating a lot of street food as hawker stalls don't generally take credit cards.
Malaysia is on the equator, hence temperatures consistently stay between high-70s to low-90s F, and humid.
December is typically the dry (i.e. less rainy, but still humid) season although, you never know!
- Sunscreen!
- Like most Asian countries, toilet paper isn't always a given =/
Best to keep tissue packets with you at all times. They also come in handy for when you're chowing down at the hawker stalls!
- Linen or other light, airy materials are a good idea. You really don't need layers.
Keep in mind if you're visiting temples or other religious institutions, you may need to dress more conservatively (i.e. covered shoulders for women & men -- every institution has different rules, so check before your visit.)
Generally, everyone in Malaysia speaks English. That said, it's often quite accented and peppered with slang. Hence, Malaysian English --> "Manglish"
