Maura and I met in San Francisco and unknowingly shared mutual friends our entire San Diegan lives. I like to think Maura and I could have crossed paths/shared a sandbox as kids and never knew! We met at age of 18, when we were prime youth spiraling and grasping at all things and people, and we stuck! She is the most open minded, caring, and thoughtful friend in the world! She resides in Santa Monica,CA with her Fiancé Jose and is the most talented Film Producer in the world.
Lindsey Bacher and I met her freshman year of high school. I knew Bacher was locked and loaded into my life when she threatened to beat a girl up when she was hasslin me in the quad at lunch time. Bacher reminds me anytime she can that I'm not normal and that her extreme disgust with my outfit choices make her love me more. Her passion for Special Education and justice in our social systems are some of my favorite things about her. Her Real Housewives like loyalty and humor is incredible! She lives with her husband Phil in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania with their sons (dogs) Dickie & Diego. Lindsey is the greatest Special Education Instructional Assistant in the world.
Katelyn Wager and I met at cheerleading tryouts in fifth grade. I of course was terrified and untalented, and she was confidently goofy and yet also untalented. Ever since then we've had a special connection through the humor/stupidity of humanity and the love of laughing at each other. Katelyn's love for animals is greater than anyone's I have ever known. Her curiosity about life, huge heart, and love for her family is what I admire about her. She lives with her husband Dustin in Portland, Oregon with their son(dog) Mufi. She is the best Internal Talent Acquisition Manager at Nike in the world.
Katie and I met through Libby (see above bridesgal) in San Francisco at the ripe odd age of 19. To put it simply Katie and I are straight up clowns, and once we met I was locked into this circus forever. Katie's laugh and hysterical snorts are contagiously endless. Her sensitive nature and genius whit has always had an impact in my life and will continue to. Katie lives in Santa Monica, CA with her daughter(kitty) Billy and is the most talented Director of Creative Services at POPSUGAR in the world!
Robert is my one and only older brother. Growing up I wanted to do everything Robert did but with my own style. When we were little, he wanted a cape so of course I wanted one two. Our mom took us to the fabric store where he picked out camouflage and I picked out clouds and rainbows. In high school the main thing we had in common was surfing. As much as we are same, we are that much more different. Two peas in the opposite ends of the pod. Robert is more than just a big brother; he is one of my best and closest friends. Robert lives with his wife Kristen and their two sons Clive and Bubs (dog) in Hood River, OR.
Nick, or as we all call him Pancakes, and I met through Robert. There is also the possibility that Nick was one of my assistant coaches the last year I played baseball during my sophomore year of high school. Nick and I share a love for baseball, running, the beach and just relaxing. I was even able to convince him to do a half Iron Man one year with us and he also came out and ran the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon with Katie. Nick is a physical education teacher in San Diego where he lives with his amazing wife Monica and their three kids Gwen, Brooks, and Cal.
Annick and Scott met through work at New York Road Runners. Their friendship quickly went from Annick telling everyone “He’s a friend from work” to them becoming best bruvs. They are the founding (and only members) of the Brooklyn Sci-Fi book club and they have traded over 50+ books back and forth over the years. Rain, shine and freezing temperatures, they often meet up for 6:30 a.m. runs to discuss the newest books, the best dogs in their lives (Dewd and Marcel), Star Wars and all nerd films, and which donuts they are getting post-run at Dunwell Donuts. Scott and Katie are friends with Annick's older brothers and they have celebrated with the Lamar family at their World Cup parties in New Jersey and family outings in Brooklyn. Annick is deeply sad to miss out on this special wedding and will be celebrating from afar with her family at the Lamar Family Reunion in Pennsylvania.
I met Jared sophomore year of high school. We didn’t hit it off right away but eventually became the best of friends and did practically everything together from surfing, skating, to just hanging out. Jared was and is a huge Harry Potter fan. At the time I couldn’t understand why, but he also couldn’t understand why I loved Star Wars so much. Finally, one day I gave in and read Harry Potter and Jared finally watched Star Wars. We both now understood what the other was freaking out about. Jared lives in San Diego with his brother Evan and is working towards his teaching credential.
Ryan Salazar and I met during High School in San Diego - having been friends with my older brother Robert for some time prior. We quickly became great friends over bad music, video games and baseball. Over the years Ryan and I have had marathon video game sessions where we would try to beat multiple games in one sitting. Ryan has been one of my best friends for the past 15 years.
Mike wins the award for most ridiculous person. Mike and I met through Robert at the end of high school. Mike is a friend that is down for anything even if you are not. While he can be a little crazy, he is always one you can count on to be there for you. We have had many wild times together and know there will be more to come. Mike loves cats, pizza, motorcycles and Andrew W.K. He lives in Oakland with his girlfriend Jenny and their cat Goober.
