Things to Do

All of these places are located between Exeter and London

Pebbly beaches at Lulworth Cove

This is a popular place to visit, you can take the short walk through the old village to the main beach. Walk a bit further uphill to the west and you will enjoy a beautiful view of the whole cove. Large parking areas and child-friendly.

You can walk over the hill to the west to reach the next famous attraction, Durdle Door! Takes about 30 min on a well-trodden path.

About 1h30m East from Exeter

Durdle Door

Walk downhill to another beautiful pebbly beach and see the famous Durdle Door, a natural limestone arch. You can walk from Lulworth Cove, or drive to a car park close to it.

About 1h30m East from Exeter

Corfe Castle

Built in the 11th century, the ruins of this old castle sits on top of a hill beside a quaint little village. You can walk up one of the hills beside it to get a landscape view of the castle and the surrounding countryside. Highly recommended, we've been there more than once!

Parking available nearby, short ten minute walk to the castle. Cafes and toilets available.

Sandy beaches at Sandbanks

A beautiful golden mile of sandy beach in our hometown. We find it hard to believe that we're still in the UK in the height of summer here.

Car park BH13 8QJ, 550 spaces available but it can get busy in the summer. There is also street parking available nearby.

About 2h East from Exeter

Old Harry Rocks

Very close to the Sandbanks beach. Take the ferry from Sandbanks to Studland, and park at the South Beach Car Park.

Or, if visiting after seeing Corfe Castle, you can drive straight to the car park.

Then you can take a 20-30 minute walk to reach an open field atop the cliffs that make Old Harry Rocks. Great views of the sea and the miles of beaches. Nice place for a picnic. Have a drink at the local pub called the Bankes Arms Inn at the start of the walk.
