Mallorca
These are some of our favourite restaurants in Mallorca, don’t forget to check out our Instagram @Tannergard_2023 for more recommendations!
FERA - Palma
Japanese fine dining concept with Mallorcean influences can be found here. High quality food and fine wines served by the friendly staff makes this restaurant an experience. Try their tasting menu!
THE BOTANIC - Palma
Charming restaurant that utilize plants as main ingredients without being totally vegetarian. With their unique way of cooking, good service and mouth watering food it's a given recommendation.
OMBU - Palma
Located in central Palma you will find this cozy hole-in-the-wall. A perfect place to try some tapas, with a twist.
NENI - Port of Soller
Probably one of the best views from a restaurant on the island, and there's no shortage of contestants. Here you will enjoy a very social meal served Israeli-style. Expect lots of awesome flavors, social vibe, beautiful views and friendly staff. End your night with a GT or Moscow Mule at Donkey Bar, crawling distance from NENI.
Mallorca offers a wide range of excursions and attractions, so if you decide to stay on the island for a couple of extra days you should check out these spots!
Valldemossa
Cozier and more picturesque than Valldemossa is hard to find. The stone streets are narrow and winding, the houses are built of light stone and beautiful trees and flowers are everywhere. Valldemossa teems with cozy cafes, malls and shops. Traditional bakeries are also available and they serve local specialties such as "coca de patata", a sweet and crispy potato bun, often accompanied by coffee or thick hot chocolate. The landmark that attracts thousands of tourists annually is the 13th-century monastery and museum, which was built in honor of the Polish composer Frederic Chopin.
Santa Catalina
Santa Catalina is a popular and charming area in Palma de Mallorca, where many of the old buildings and houses remain. Cozy and trendy cafes, a fantastic selection of bars and restaurants, interior design shops and clothing stores. The famous market hall Santa Catalina is right in the heart of the area, offering locally produced goods, fruit and vegetables of the best quality.
The antique train to Port de Soller
In 1912 the railway line was completed between Palma and Soller and the following year the railway was also completed all the way to Port de Soller. The train departs from Plaza de España in Palma, from where you drive through the city, further out into the countryside and soon the climb into the mountains begins. Here you are offered fantastic views of the mountains, the sea and the countryside. In just seven kilometres, the railway rises 199 meters with a gradient of 23 millimetres, the tracks pass through old arch bridges and thirteen tunnels, the longest a full 3 kilometres. The capital city of Mallorca has so much to offer that we could not fit it all in this website. Great bars, restaurants, shopping and sights.
Check out the Cathedral, the shops around Jaime III and Borne, and the cobblestone streets around the old town area of La Lonja and just let yourself get lost in this great city.
Here is just the tip of our recommendations.
Restaurants and Bars
Taberna de La Boveda – Tapas on the sea front, book ahead.
Marc Fosh - For a more special dinner. Michelin starred, Mallorcan influence. Book ahead.
Abaco - Beautiful and opulent cocktail bar with piles of fruit and flowers spilling over the floor. Great for a drink after/before dinner and they also do great desserts. Sit in the courtyard outside and make sure you pop your head around the house.
Cappuccino San Miguel - Another cappuccino but this is in a particularly spectacular building with a beautiful courtyard. Perfect to nip in to during your shopping in Palma for a cold drink and snack (located off the Placa Major).
Santa Catalina Area – The Santa Catalina area in Palma is absolutely buzzing in the evening and there are lots of nice wine bars and restaurants to choose from, like Duke.
Mercat 1930 - a great gastronomic market with food choices for all tastes. It's made up of individual food stalls offering anything from oysters to pizza!
Beach Bars/Bars/Clubs
Puro Beach Palma - located on the outskirts of Palma, offers a great beach club vibe by the seaside.
Assaona - Good for lunch or dinner at night as well. We highly recommend the truffle pasta!
Nightlife
Hostal Cuba - This is where the locals gather every Friday and Saturday night. Start with drinks on the rooftop, then dinner on the ground level and dance the night away in the lower ground club.
Idem - this bar may be small but makes up for it in the vibe and burlesque atmosphere.
Social - the coolest club in Palma, it gets going after 1am!
If you plan to do some exploring further afield from Palma and Illetas we recommend that you rent a car and visit some of the island's most beautiful villages and beaches.
Soller – Beautiful town and port.
Valldemossa – This town is straight out of a postcard!
Deia – Beautiful town in the mountains, the locals are primarily artists and it shows. Have a drink on the terrace at Belmond La Residencia and just take in all the surrounding beauty.
Playa Es Trenc – It may seem like you are in the Caribbean in this beach with white sand and turquoise water. It gets particularly busy at weekends and be warned that there are nudist sections.
How long should I stay in Mallorca?
The wedding weekend will begin on Friday evening, and last until late Sunday. If you have the opportunity, we therefore recommend staying Friday-Monday (or even longer). However, we do understand if you are not able to participate during all three days. Under the page “RSVP” you can separately fill in the days you will attend.
How do I get to Palma de Mallorca?
You can fly directly from Stockholm or Gothenburg to Palma de Mallorca (PMI) in 4 hours.
What about transportation?
We will arrange all transport required to get to the events and back, as long as you’re staying at (or close by) one of our suggested hotels. Therefore, it is important to let us know where you will be staying during your visit.
Can I bring my children?
Even though we adore your children, we kindly ask you not to bring them to the wedding weekend. Please let us know if you need contact information to a nanny service in Mallorca.
