Our Love Story

Ankit and Sheena first met years before they dated, through Hindi Film Dance, but were never friends until Chicago. When Sheena moved to Chicago to start her Ob/Gyn residency in 2016, Ankit had already been living there for a year. A mutual friend began inviting both of them to multiple group friend events.

The first time Ankit and Sheena knew they liked each other was months later. They were having a friendly conversation one night and somehow the topic of Harry Potter was brought up. They proceeded to talk all night long, challenging each other with questions to find out who was the bigger HP fan. The next week, Ankit took Sheena on their first date- jet skiing on Lake Michigan. They spent the entire day together that day and have built on that bond ever since.

Two and a half years later on April 27, 2019, after a year of long distance, Ankit got all their family and friends together in Chicago and proposed to Sheena. She said yes! They are so excited for the wedding and for the life ahead of them. They are proof that love stories between Gryffindor and Slytherin do exist!

The Proposal

The first time Ankit and Sheena met, they talked about Harry Potter all night long. It has always been an important part of their relationship. Their first trip together was to Harry Potter World. One weekend, Sheena's friend asked her to go to a “gallery opening” with her. When she got to the venue, she stepped into a dark room. There was a spell book and a wand on a podium. The book was filled with pictures of Ankit and Sheena, as well as instructions to complete a series of spells. Alohomora magically opened a closet. Aguamenti triggered a mist waterfall to appear in the middle of the room. Lumos maxima started a video projection onto the waterfall about their life together. Incendio made sparklers ignite. Finally Ankit appeared and, when Sheena said ‘Homenum Revelio’ so did all their family and friends. Then he knelt on one knee and asked her to marry him. It was the most magical day of their lives. Sheena may have never gotten her letter from Hogwarts, but this was pretty darn close.
