We went on our first business trip together to Nairobi, Kenya. The highlight was being offered ostrich, lion, crocodile & zebra .. oh my! at the infamous Carnivore restaurant in Nairobi, Kenya.
Bava doesn't remember sitting beside me at that dinner but still wonders "Why was he wearing a turtleneck?"
Our next mission together was to Burundi at the once elegant "Source du Nil Hotel". Here we had lots of time to chat. Bava complained about the non functioning elevators in the hotel and educated me about Gustav - the man eating crocodile that lives in Lake Tanganyika. I told her about my interest in moose farming. That's when we knew we were both weird.
I was born and raised in Winnetka, Illinios USA! (Just north of Chicago)
Me, my parents and my sister Laura spent many summers on the Oregon Coast where I developed a life long love of nature and travel.
I was born in Jullandar, Punjab, India! and at the tender age of two became a Canadian when my father began our whole family's immigration to Calgary, Alberta.
Later, my sisters and I spent many a year herding goats and chickens on our Bearspaw farm.
It was here I developed my love for travel and nature (and loathing of goat cheese).

Another mission to Africa. This time the destination was Arusha, Tanzania on the outskirts of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Nearby and off the main tourist path lies Lake Duluti, a spiritual and mysterious little crater lake that is home to more than 130 bird species. We spent the day in a canoe and think we met them all!
Malachite Kingfisher (AKA the hummingbird of Kingfishers.)

Ted wanted to show Bava his hometown so yes, that's us reflected in Chicago's Millennium Park Cloud Gate, AKA "the Bean".

Bava was jet setting somewhere and I was returning to DC. Our paths crossed and we spent a weekend exploring Amsterdam: seas of tulips, bridges of bikes and of course, red lights. We also met the Queen!
Amsterdam, May 2013
Yet another mission in Africa! (there's a theme here!) This time at Victoria Falls, Zambia.
I knew Bava was really magical (or perhaps a witch?) when I discovered she could make rainbows come out of her head.
Victoria Falls and Bava Bows

Bava had a speaking engagement in Prince Edward Island and Ted came along for the ride. Here he is being a turbine but sadly, only blowing hot air!
Another stop on the PEI tour.
These two helped us escape from a Maize maze.
Those who know Bava have almost certianly heard something along the lines of "Hey! let's see if there are any geocaches around here!" - Shes the queen of treasure hunting.

On a recent trip with friends to Arctic Circle, Bava worried Ted's interest might be waning, but he was just feigning.

" I have killed winter!"

Lessons Learned: Never take on Canadians in winter sports.
MUSH! If you go searching for the Northern Lights, go by dog sled and take some Canadians with you. Pristine Finnish forests and snow

(ed. note. beware of Bava and Snowballs)
When not snowmobiling or sled-dogging - reindeer sleigh is quite a civilized way to get around.
On a winters day, friends and hot chocolate go together like St. Petersburg and Tsars.
And there's no better place than Cafe Singer, in St. Petersburg (Russia, Not Florida)
Ted and Bava sought blessings at the DC Gurdwara.
Ted has embraced my Indian heritage and as you may soon see, can Bhangra with the best of them!
Engaged at the Washington Canoe Club! (The option to toss her in was tempting!)
Washington, DC, September 2014
Afterwards we took an evening stroll down Pennsylvania Avenue - the street where the Obamas live.
The proposal continued...even more official with shiny sparkly things!
A picture-perfect autumn evening on the river.
Making our moonlight getaway.
