Point Dume

Point Dume is a promontory on the coast of Malibu, California that juts out into the Pacific Ocean. The point, a long bluff, forms the northern end of the Santa Monica Bay. Point Dume Natural Area affords a vista of the Palos Verdes Peninsula and Santa Catalina Island. Zuma Beach lies to its immediate northwest.

An iconic pier that symbolizes the California lifestyle. Can be crowded, especially on weekends. Also visit the nearby 3rd Street Promenade (see below)

3rd Street Promenade

Close to the Santa Monica Pier, the 3rd Street Promenade is a vibrant pedestrian only shopping experience. Here you will also find many trendy restaurants and cafes. 

Griffith Observatory

Griffith Observatory is a public observatory/park. It is not just for space nerds - from here, you also get a close view of the Hollywood sign as well as downtown Los Angeles. It is inside Griffith Park, where many a movie scene has been filmed. For another part of Griffith Park, see below.

Bronson Canyon

Bronson Canyon, or Bronson Caves, is a section of Griffith Park in Los Angeles that has become known as a filming location for many films and television series, especially Westerns and science fiction, from the early days of motion pictures to the present. The Hollywood sign is also visible.

Universal Studios and Theme Park. Plan to spend an entire day if you go here. Great for kids and adults alike.
