Cape Cod National Seashore
Forty miles of pristine sandy beach, marshes, ponds, and uplands support diverse species. Lighthouses, cultural landscapes, and wild cranberry bogs offer a glimpse of Cape Cod's past and continuing ways of life. Swimming beaches and walking and biking trails beckon today's visitors.
Heritage Museum & Gardens
Heritage Museums & Gardensis located on 100 acres of magnificent grounds and trails on the banks of Shawme Pond in Historic Sandwich. The gardens feature internationally important collections of rhododendrons, including those created by Charles Dexter, who did his ground-breaking plant hybridizing work here. Other horticultural areas of interest include a comprehensive collection of hydrangeas, a collection of over 1,000 varieties of daylilies, hostas, herb, heather gardens, and more than a thousand varieties of trees, shrubs and flowers along beautiful and easily walked paths.
Cape Cod Rail Trail
Ride, walk or run through 6 Cape Cod towns as you follow the Cape Cod Rail Trail. There’s plenty to see along the 25-mile trail and state and national parks to visit as you please.
Sandwich Glass Museum
The Sandwich Glass Museum has “Relit the Fires in Sandwich” with a glass furnace for hourly glass making presentations and new exhibits to better tell the story of the glass industry in Sandwich. While we will not be able to completely recreate that booming, smoking glass factory, our visitors are able to feel the heat from the glory hole on their faces. They can watch the glassblower turn and twist the hot glass into wonderful forms, and visions of those former days will not be so difficult to understand or imagine.
Wellfleet Drive -In
With a mini-golf course nearby and a playground set up in front of the screen, the Wellfleet Drive-In is perfect for those looking for a break from the beach. Double features are shown each night throughout the summer (complete with a vintage welcome reel and quintessential theater snacks at the Dairy Bar and Snack Bar), making for a memorable theater outing.
Pilgrim Monument
The Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown, Massachusetts, was built between 1907 and 1910 to commemorate the first landfall of the Pilgrims in 1620 and the signing of the Mayflower Compact in Provincetown Harbor. Today, millions of visitors and generations of local residents have admired and climbed the 252 foot granite Pilgrim Monument for almost 100 years.
Explore Chatham
Chatham is a quaint, walkable town. Take a stroll downtown and enjoy charming local shops and great restaurants. There is street parking and free municipal parking lots available. Stop by The Squire, a landmark pub covered in a collection license plates, and mingle with the locals for a cold beer.
-A short distance to the Chatham Light is an operational Coast Guard lighthouse. Explore and enjoy the view of Monomoy Island, an 8 mile stretch of sand. This is the "elbow" of The Cape, where the Nantucket Sound and the open ocean converge. It is a deceivingly hard place to navigate by boat with the drastic tide shifts. You may see seals sunning themselves, and hopefully no sharks. Great photo opportunity. Continue riding NE on Shore Road for some breathtaking views.
-Continue driving North East to the Chatham Fish Pier. This is a popular spot to watch fishing boats come in with their daily catch. A great spot to spot seals or grab fresh seafood for lunch at the pier.
