The Mckellar Wedding
April 15, 2025
Rewinding back to summer 2018 where we had our first “proper” date.
Both fresh faced and 19 years old, little did we know what the future would hold for us.
The night started with a cheeky Nando’s, following that we went to the cinema to watch “The Nun”.
Bonfire night is one of Sarah’s favourite nights of the year.
In November 2018 we went for a meal ironically at the South Causey Inn, following on from this we went to Saltwell Park to watch the fireworks.
February 2019 we went to York for the first time.
Jake decided to treat Sarah to a 2 nights stay in York, treated on arrival with Prosecco and Chocolates! (Oh how times have changed!)
Jake also bought Sarah a cuddly Labrador teddy who we still have to this day, we decided to call him Jasper..
Cyprus 2019 was our first holiday together, This was our first real test to see if we could put up with each other for a week!
Lots of cocktails, sunbathing and a boat trip!
In August 2019 it was Sarah’s first trip to Bridlington.
This is an annual tradition for Jakes family to go and visit the sunny seaside town so Sarah had high expectations.
Upon arrival Sarah was pleasantly surprised by the weather, but she wasn’t prepared for actual sunshine so she wore ripped jeans and got some pretty questionable tan lines!
At the time Jake still had his first car which was a Suzuki swift, which didn’t have air-con…. This made the hourly journey back very difficult!
In 2020 Covid hit the world.
Jakes mam was a nurse on the covid ward throughout and we made the decision to move in together into Sarah’s family holiday cottage.
Expecting this to be for a couple of months, nearly a year down the line we still lived together. At this point we decided that we couldn’t move back in with our parents (sorry mam and dad).
In December 2020 we completed on our first home purchase in Hunwick. Jake had caught the Hunwick bug and we agreed it was the place for us.
With the back log of covid when we completed it was only a couple of weeks before Christmas, we actually had our Christmas tree before we had sofas!
Fast forwarding more holidays and adventures on 5th August 2022 we became parents!
Jake had actually spotted the advertisement on Facebook after drinking multiple pints at the pub. Not thinking I would actually make anything of it he showed me the ad.
Instantly I messaged the owner and they had one little girl left. You all obviously know what happened next…
A week after viewing her we brought her home and our little family felt complete.
In June 2023 we bought our current home.
We absolutely loved our first house, but it was time for change and we needed a garden for Ruby.
It was also Ruby’s 1st birthday in June, so it was a special month for us.
Is planning a wedding as stressful as moving house? I doubt it, but we’ll see!
28th October 2023 we got engaged.
We haven’t exactly done anything traditional in our relationship, so in September 23 we decided it was the right time to get engaged.
Jake was beside himself at the thought of trying to buy a ring, so he agreed for Sarah to decided on which ring she would like.
Of course Jake had to get Ruby involved!
The next chapter of our lives as Husband & Wife.
We can’t wait to fulfill this next story
