We met as children, attending summer and winter camps at the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, a Hindu retreat center near the Poconos in PA. We were part of the same friend group and loved our reunions, having fun snowball fights, going shopping at the outlets, and telling scary stories at night. We lost touch after college began and randomly re-connected in 2019! We started texting, calling, and FaceTiming each other, and before we knew it, Shivam made a trip up to Boston. During that weekend, we went apple picking, walked around the Boston Commons and the Esplanade, exploring Boston. Shivam asked me to be his girlfriend that weekend at Tougas Farm and that first weekend itself, we knew we were meant for each other.

Shivam is known for planning surprises for Nisha and he planned a surprise trip for Nisha in July 2020. They went to New Hampshire, stayed in a tiny-home cabin, and went berry picking, bringing back memories of their first date. After berry-picking, they went to Portsmouth, NH where Shivam brought Nisha to the beautiful Prescott Park gardens. He was so thoughtful and had photographers waiting in the gardens who helped set up a "Nisha, will you marry me?" sign and personalized champagne flutes. He did a great job of hiding the ring the whole day, and in the flower garden, he proposed to Nisha where she said yes! Back in Boston, their immediate families were waiting for them, the last fun surprise of the weekend!

Shivam Gosai is a mental health counselor currently working with children and families in the greater Boston area. He is also a teacher of Vedanta and Sanskrit, having completed an intensive residential Vedanta course at Arsha Vidya Gurukulam in India. For fun, Shivam loves biking, cooking vegan dishes, watching documentaries, and of course, spending time with Nisha!

Nisha is a second year resident physician at Tufts Ophthalmology in Boston. While she’s not doing eye surgery in the operating room, she’s traveling, watching The Voice or Friends, working out, and now wedding planning!
