Among the many pre-wedding events that occur prior to the Hindu wedding ceremonies, the Sangeet, which translates to "music," is where the party begins. This evening is a form of celebration for the wedding to come. The Sangeet is conducted to relish in the happiness and joy surrounding the couple and the coming together of the two families. Friends and family prepare dance performances to popular Bollywood songs. Get ready to dance!
Mehndi, also known as Henna, is an important part of Hindu tradition that signifies the bond of marriage. The Mehndi ceremony is often combined with the Sangeet, which makes of a night full of music, dance, and celebration!
The Reef on the Water is located across the Harbor from the Hyatt Regency (~3-5 min drive)

Groom's Entrance
In Hindu weddings, the Groom is led to the marriage site in a procession known as the Baraat. He is accompanied by family members, groomsmen, and friends and rides in on a white horse. The music during a Baraat sets the mood for the rest of the marriage event, with upbeat and exciting songs blasting as the Groom makes his way to the wedding ceremony. ALL guests are welcome to celebrate together in the Baraat, the more the merrier!
Please meet in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency at 2pm.
Three o'clock in the afternoon
The traditional Hindu wedding is a deeply meaningful and symbolic combination of rituals and traditions under a mandap (or canopy). The couple will take the saptapadi, or seven steps, as they vow to support each other and live happily together. The ceremony not only joins the souls of the bride and groom, but also creates a strong tie between two families and now -- two cultures! The ceremony will conclude with Catholic prayers and traditions.
There will be refreshments following the ceremony with a short break before the start of the reception.
