Flights

All information on flights should be checked on the airline website as their schedules can change regularly. The two nearest airports to the venue are Pisa and Florence.

Pisa:
You can fly direct to Pisa from Dublin with Aer Lingus and Ryanair. Unfortunately neither Cork nor Shannon airport offer direct flights to Pisa.
Aer Lingus have confirmed their June 2020 schedule. They will fly to Pisa from Dublin on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and return to Dublin on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Ryanair have not published their schedule for next summer. However if you search for flights in June 2020 from Dublin to Pisa they fly out every day from Sunday - Thursday and Saturdays and return every day from Sunday - Thursday and Saturdays.
British Airways fly to Pisa via UK from Cork and Shannon. They also partner with Aer Lingus and Ryanair so the UK leg can be with the Irish airline and then the Italian leg is with British Airways.

Florence:
You cannot fly to Florence directly from Ireland.
British Airways, Lufthansa and Air France all fly to Florence from Dublin via UK, Germany and France respectively.
British Airways and Air France fly from Cork to Florence via UK and France.
British Airways, Lufthansa and Air France all fly to Florence from Shannon via UK, Germany and France respectively.

Transportation

As most of the flights from Ireland will be into Pisa airport we will offer all of our guests the option of being collected from the airport in Pisa on Friday and brought directly to the venue. If this is something you would like to avail of please let us know via email (paulcolettewedding@gmail.com). If you are flying into Florence please let us know and we will check what we can arrange for you.

If you are arriving on another day or would prefer not to share transport, then you can choose to take a taxi from the airport to the venue. Please check the map section below for the google link and directions.

Lastly, if you prefer, you can rent a car and drive to the venue from Pisa. Directions are in the map section below. Italian roads are dangerous and the drivers tend to speed and weave between lanes. There are also a number of tolls that need to be paid between Pisa / Florence and Siena. Please do consider this when choosing your transport option.

In the hotel:
All of the hotel facilities are at your disposal during your stay. There are two pools, (one outdoor, one indoor), a gym and a spa. The spa offers a list of treatments such as massages and facials and it includes a jacuzzi, Turkish bath, and a sauna. Bookings for all treatments can be made with the hotel reception on arrival.

The hotel can also arrange a number of activities for you during your stay. Please ask at reception for details on any of the experiences below.

Siena:
A visit to the city of the Palio is a must. Stand in the amazing Piazza del Campo, in the shadow of the Palazzo Pubblico and the Torre del Mangia. Stop at the Civic Museum and cathedral, and wander the streets at leisure, exploring the cafes and shops with wonderful jewellery, furs, books, and more. It’s easy to get to Siena with the free shuttle service offered by Hotel Le Fontanelle.

San Gimignano:
One of the most beautiful of Italy‘s ancient towns, this gem is famous for its medieval towers and breathtaking views. Visit the Museum of Torture, the Spezieria di Santa Fina, and pick up some locally-grown saffron.

Volterra:
Its ancient city walls still intact, Volterra retains all the charms of its Etruscan origins. Explore the acropolis, the Roman theatre and medieval churches, and don’t forget to stop at one of Volterra’s many craft shops for some locally-made alabaster.

Golf:
Combine sport, pleasure, and some peace and quiet with a game of golf in one of Tuscany’s 16 certified courses. Let hotel staff know what level you play and they’ll be happy to recommend the right course.

Vespa Tour:
Explore the Tuscan hills on an original 1970s Vespa. Escape for the day and enjoy the magic of our special landscape at your own speed.

Horseback riding:
There’s no better way to enjoy these hillside paths and wide open vistas than from the back of a horse, especially at sunset. Think of it – the slow pace, clean air, deep in nature. 

FAQ

What is the weather like in Tuscany during June?
Weather can vary but in general temperatures are around 28-30 degrees in the day time and 18-20 degrees at night-time.

Do the rooms have air-conditioning?
Yes, all of the rooms have full air conditioning that you can adjust as you wish.

What is the dress code?
Hotel Le Fontanelle usually have a formal dress code in the evening. However as we have exclusive use of the hotel for Friday and Saturday we can choose our own. On Friday as the welcome BBQ is for everyone to get to know each other we want the dress code to be relaxed. For the wedding ceremony and celebrations afterwards the dress code is elegant wedding attire (no shorts, flip-flops, t-shirts, beachwear, etc. please).
