Gone but never forgotten. The memory of Lindiwe Mabuza will remain in all the hearts she touched, in Sweden and so many places around the world. She will keep walking by our side as we continue her struggle. Amandla!
I read your poems and feel your everlasting presence: poet, activist, politician, diplomat, friend.
Anne Page Lindiwe's support for the arts, for poetry and music especially, added to the vibrancy of her diplomacy. Whatever the occasion she hosted or organised, there was music too. At the dinner for the University of Fort Hare's 90th birthday, Lindiwe invited the Manhattan Brothers to sing for those present - the last time they appeared together. She created a praise poem when President Mandela was on stage, she arranged scholarships for brilliant young South African musicians. And she and President Mbeki invested me, and six others, with the privileged status of Honorary Consuls of South Africa in the UK. She will be always remembered here.
I thank God for your life Gogo Lindiwe. You were such an amazing cheerleader, always expecting excellence throughout my life. You just wanted the best for your Sunshine. Thank you for believing in me. I love you Gogo❤️ Khanyisile
With Lindiwe Mabuza at her last visit to Sweden a couple of years ago..She died yesterday in Pretoria. ANC representative in Sweden for many years inspiring us in the struggle against apartheid. Missing her! RIPBerit and Sten Rylander
Dear Sister Lindiwe, You were a creator. Creator of words, creator of friendship, creator of laughter and joy all around you. You enriched our lives with your poetry, your activism, your diplomacy. You served our movement and our oppressed people in the same selfless spirit as you served our government. Your charm, warmth and generosity will remain etched in our memory. We feel equal measures of heaviness in our hearts at losing you and happiness at having been privileged in being part of your life. Our heartfelt condolences go to your beautiful daughter Thembi as well as to all members of your family and your numerous friends. Khiphusizi, Catherine and Nokukhanya Jele
My dear GogoI feel so honoured to have known such a beautiful, graceful and powerful woman. How lucky are we to have been able to experience your greatness in such close proximity. You carried yourself with such class and grace, you unequivocally made us all want to show up as our best selves in your presence. You demanded excellence merely from the way you conducted yourself and you definitely took no nonsense! You were very particular and presise about what you wanted. I'll miss the moments when our eyes would meet and you'd give me a certain look, which was then followed by the most beautiful smile, you'd reach out your perfectly manicured hands to meet with mine as I made my way to you and you'd embrace me and tell me "how wonderful" it is to see me♥️. As much as it saddens me that you're no longer with us in flesh, I'm comforted by the thought that you are reunited with AMAZILANKATHA, you have reunited with your siblings, and your beloved friends and family. We all know how much you treasure and value family. We're grateful for the impactful life you lived, I thank you for loving me and making me feel seen. You'll continue to hold a very special space in my heart. To the most fabulous Gogo, ngiyabonga, ngiyakuthanda kakhulu and I pray that you're resting peacefully. With loveLindumusa

Oh no. I am in tears. Such a sad loss . I tried to make contact with my beloved Lindiwe recently when I was in Pretoria and I sent photos of the Presidents award which I know she was indirectly responsible for. I received no answer and thought perhaps our sister was not well as it was not like her to not respond. We fondly talked about her at lunch with our president Cyril Ramaposa . My heartfelt condolences to you all . Lindiwe was a queen , an inspiration to us all and her support and kindness to the Ardmore artists and myself will never be forgotten. ! She was my mentor . My confident ! May sissy Lindiwe find the peace she so richly deserves. From London: I am so sad to hear of the great Lindiwe's passing. What a spectacular woman! She was a great - and unusually poetical - High Commissioner, an always vivid presence graced with a smile that could melt an iceberg. I loved her, and I loved her turbans and the elegance of her language and her mischievous twinkle. She leaves a gap in nature. I send profound condolences to her family. From a great admirer, Janet Suzman

Dearest immediate family of Lindi, extended family, the ANC compatriots, friends, associates and acquaintances. My family and I wish to share our deep felt condolences to you all. We continue, keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Although it is hard for you, not to grieve at her passing, but to rather celebrate a life of doing what she did best. Her Cultural Activism, was well known, writings of inspirational Poetry and short stories. She garnered international support during our Liberation struggle and much much more.Lindi has run a long and arduous race and has finally reached the finishing line with grace style, dignity and love.May her lovable dear soul rest in Everlasting and

My dear friend Lindiwe was a force of nature in her drive to champion her country and her people both pre democracy but as I know following following the establishment of democracy. She lent all of her efforts to maximise South Africa's interest during her various postings overseas. In London she was the most active of High Commissioners recruiting those of us to the cause of maximising that interest. This recruiting was conducted with her characteristic charm and elegance but recruited we were and remained. Her ambition for her country ranged across the entire waterfront from economic and business opportunity to educational possibilities and wide NGA links through to cultural developments. She programmed us to our various tasks and masterminded and conducted our efforts which we as friends of South Africa were happy to comply. Her range was wide, her energy tireless and her determination absolute. She visited our home in home in West Sussex where she taught me how to light and sustain a fire in an old house. Erling and I have a clear memory of this elegant lady gently pushing me aside to save a fire which was sputtering and near expiration! She was our friend and a most wonderful representative of her country. We will miss her enormously but are grateful to have had the privilege of enjoying her friendship.Rest well dear friend.Michael and Erling
