Our wedding is taking place during high season on the island. We encourage guests to book their island accommodations as soon as possible.
Group home rentals through third parties websites or the block of 2 bedroom villas through Kiawah Island will provide the most economical options.
We have expanded on the full range of accommodations below:
We are strongly encouraging groups of guests to utilize third party sites to book homes on Kiawah Island for the duration of their stay for our wedding weekend. Here are several links to sites where you can peruse and book homes:
www.sweetgrassvacationrentals.com/
*When searching - please ensure the home is on Kiawah Island. Johns Island and Seabrook Island are NOT the same. You are of course welcome to stay on those islands, but please note you will have to meet the transportation we are providing at the Andell Inn*
*If you search for 3 day rentals, you will find many more results than for 2 days*
You can rent villas (condos) or private homes directly through the Kiawah Island Resort. You can browse island accommodations online or call and discuss your options with a knowledgeable reservation concierge.
Villas: We have a block of 15 two bedroom scenic villas with Kiawah Island for Friday and Saturday nights at a rate of $279 per night. To book these villas call 1-800-654-2924 and ask for Villa Reservations. Tell the agent that you are booking for the Conway-Bugden Wedding. The cutoff date for this rate is March 23, 2022 but there is very limited availability.
*As of 10/4/2021 there are very few remaining at this rate*
Homes: Please note, all home bookings through the island require a Saturday to Saturday rental, which is why if you are interested in renting a home, we have recommended third party sites above. Guests should call 1-800-654-2924 and ask for home reservations. Tell the agent that you are booking for the Conway-Bugden Wedding and use the booking code #17310 to receive 10% off nightly rates on homes.
The Sanctuary Hotel is a five star, Ocean front, luxury hotel located in the heart of Kiawah Island. The Sanctuary, much like it's name, will provide a luxurious stay you will always remember just steps from the beach with the amenities of a full-service spa, two restaurants, a cocktail lounge, pools and a hot tub.
Guests should call 1-800-654-2924 and ask for Sanctuary Reservations. Tell the agent that you wish to book a room for the Conway-Bugden Wedding or use the booking code #17310 to receive 10% off nightly rates at the Sanctuary.
The Andell Inn is a Marriott branded boutique hotel, just off the Island. We will be providing transportation from the Andell Inn to the Welcome Reception and the Wedding venue for all guests staying at the Andell Inn.
Use this link for our hotel block, with a rate of $439 per night. The cut off date for the room rate is February 22, 2022.
Reservations may also be made by calling (843) 793-6050.
The closest airport is Charleston International Airport. Kiawah Island is a 35 minute drive from the airport. Rental cars are available from the airport through most major rental companies, and if you plan to spend extra time on the Island, we highly recommend a car to get around.
Private cars or ubers are available to get from the airport to the Island, but please be advised getting an Uber from the Island back to the Airport is often unreliable.
If you are interested in arranging private transportation in advance, we recommend using SC Express. You can call or email them for availability and rates.

We put together a list of some of our favorite things to do in the area. If you find yourself with some down time, consider some of these activities and places!
- Bike over to Mingo Point (just outside the main gates) for a scenic Marsh View. There are bike paths all over the island so it is an easy and scenic way to get around.
- The Cold Brew at Java Java in Freshfields is the best we've had. It's worth it, every time.
- Ice Cream at Vincent's (an old fashioned soda shop) in Freshfields is a treat, or stop into Beaches & Cream in the Sanctuary for their Signature monthly milkshake before walking on the beach.
- Grab a cocktail at the Lobby Bar of the Sanctuary Hotel and head out to the patio to sip on it in an Adirondack chair with an ocean view.
- Food on Island: The shrimp & grits at the Jasmine Porch (in the Sanctuary Hotel), the Mac & cheese at Cherrywood BBQ (at Osprey Point), the pizza and bolognese pasta at Tomassos (Turtle Point).
A relatively short drive away from Kiawah, we like to visit the Angel Oak tree, a 400-500 year old, beautiful tree. There is a namesake restaurant just past the Tree that offers casual and delectable local fare. For a more upscale meal, visit the Royal Tern. To sample a few local beverages, try Low Tide Brewing or the Charleston Distilling Company. If you want to walk on endless paths, go to a water park, rent paddle boats, or visit a Rufus approved dog park, we cannot recommend the James Island County Park enough.
If you are heading into Charleston, some of our favorite places to go are: King Street to shop and walk around, on a walking history tour, Fort Sumter, Slightly North of Broadway (SNOB) restaurant, Husk, and 167 Raw.
And, of course, don't forget to play any of the golf courses on the Island. Our favorite is Osprey!
We will be offering shuttle service to and from your accommodations for both the welcome reception and wedding ceremony/reception. Please ensure that you RSVP on the reply card with the EXACT address of where you will be staying so that our shuttle company can coordinate your pick up time and location for you. The shuttles will be available to take your home throughout both events.
***If you are driving or will have a rental car, there will be passes available at the front gate for your car for the whole weekend if you need it. Tell them you are there for the Conway-Bugden Wedding***
For the health and safety of our guests, we ask that all attendees eligible for COVID-19 vaccination be fully vaccinated in advance of the event.
Our wedding ceremony and reception will be outdoors in a tented area. The welcome reception and farewell brunch will have food service indoors with outdoor space available for guests to use. We are not requiring guests to wear masks at this time, but we invite those who feel more comfortable in a mask to wear one as they see fit.
