Things to Do

Carnifex Ferry - 30 minutes. Civil War battle site.

Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine - 30 minutes. Walk a coal camp or do the underground tour (tickets required).

The New River Gorge Bridge and Bridge Walk - 5 minutes. The bridge can be easily seen at the New River Gorge visitors center. The Bridge walk takes you on a guided walk attached on the underside of the bridge. This requires advanced booking. 

Babcock State Park - 25 minutes. Hiking, cabins, and the Glade Creek Grist Mill. This place is gorgeous! 

Hawks Nest State Park - 20 minutes. Hiking, nature museum, jetboat rides, and a lodge. 

Wild Blue Adventure Company - 5 minutes. Aerobatic or siteseeing flights in an old World War II Stearman Biplane. The aerobatic flight is incredible if you want a good thrill. Book tickets in advance.

Adventures on the Gorge - tree top obstacle course, zipline, paintball and laser tag, biking, horseback riding, rock climbing/rappelling, cave tours, rafting, kayaking, and lodging.

Gauley River Adventures - rafting, horseback riding, and biking.

ACE Adventure Resort - ziplining, obstacle course, rock climbing/rappelling, ATV tours, horseback riding, biking, paintball, rafting, kayaking, and cabins.

Cantrell Ultimate Rafting - rafting and lodging.

River Expeditions - rafting, ziplines, paintball, ATV tours, stand up paddle boarding, horseback riding, biking, rock climbing, and fishing.
