Travel

All hotels are within a 30 minute ride from the airport.  We recommend using Uber or Lyft.

Dining

These are some of our favorites! If you are looking for a spot for dinner on Friday night, be sure to make your reservation now.

Tako - Fancied up tacos and margs in a great atmosphere.  Located downtown, a short walk or Uber ride away.

Gaucho Parrilla - This Argentinian restaurant is known for it's wood-fired meats.  They are delicious.  Also located downtown.

DiAnoia's Eatery - This is one of our favorite Italian spots in the city.  It has a laid back vibe and delicious food, they're also open for lunch.  DiAnoia's is located in the Strip District, a long walk or short Uber ride away.

Cinderlands Warehouse - A local brewery that is the perfect place to grab a beer and casual bites.  They have plenty of space, a great patio, and are also open for lunch.  Cinderlands is located in the Strip District, a long walk or short Uber ride away.

Monterey Bay Fish Grotto - Monterey Bay has great seafood and the absolute best view of the city.  It sits high upon Mt. Washington and overlooks the three rivers that Pittsburgh is known for.  It's a ten minute ride from downtown, but definitely worth the trip!

Poulet Bleu - If you're looking for a little fancy, this is our favorite spot in Pittsburgh.  It's a beautiful place with just amazing French food.  Poulet Bleu is located in Lawrenceville,  which is Alex's old neighborhood, and is a short Uber ride away.  Get the duck.

DRINKS

These restaurants are all within walking distance of the hotels and wedding venues and have great bars. They would be great spots to stop by after the ceremony while we do the photo thing.

The Commoner - Located in The Hotel Monaco, The Commoner is way better than your average hotel bar.  It's about two blocks from the church and in the direction of the reception.

Eddie V's - Located in the historic Union Trust building, Eddie V's has a great bar area.  It's a five minute walk from the church, you'd probably want to Uber to the reception from here.

Omni William Penn Hotel - The hotel has several great bar areas including a speakeasy in the basement.  Double check their website in June to verify which ones have re-opened.  It is two blocks from the church and a seven minute walk to the reception.

Bill's Burger Bar - It is what it sounds like!  The drinks are good and, best of all, it's located in the Westin which is directly across the street from the reception.  It would be a ten minute walk from the church.

Things to Do

Senator John Heinz History Center - Located in the heart of the Strip district. Pennsylvania’s largest history museum and an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution.

Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History - Located in Oakland, near the University of Pittsburgh's campus, these adjoining museums are a must see.

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens - Located in Pittsburgh's Schenley Park.  Enjoy the beauty of the botanical gardens within city limits.

The National Aviary - Located in Pittsburgh's North Side. The National Aviary is America’s only independent indoor nonprofit bird zoo.

The Duquesne Incline - This incline takes you to Pittsburgh's Mount. Washington overlook.  Here you can see the best views of Pittsburgh!

PNC Park - While Pittsburgh is not known for it's baseball team, we are known for our beautiful ballpark.  Located on Pittsburgh's North Shore near Heinz Field.  If you arrive to town early, the Pirates are playing the Dodgers on Thursday, June 10th at 12:35PM!

The Strip District - The Strip, as it's called, is a one half square mile shopping district.  It is home to an assortment of international grocery stores and retailers, boutique shops, independent merchants, and several of the best restaurants in the city.  It comes alive on Sunday mornings and is a great place to grab breakfast.  This place is pure Pittsburgh.  Gritty and authentic.  No pretense, no fluff.  Just plain good.
