For those of you who will be in town Thursday, the Morgans and Emslies will be capping off the first night at BZ's Bar outdoor patio, located on the main floor of The Gasparilla Inn. We welcome anyone to meet us there! The Old Florida charm of BZ’s will remind you of a bigone era, and the adjoining outdoor terrace is the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful views of the fifth green of The Gasparilla Golf Club, as well as Charlotte Harbor in the distance.
This is Charley and John's favorite late night spot to enjoy a cocktail and play a game of cards or ping pong, ever the competitors!
All guests must receive a negative non-rapid COVID test before traveling. Please shower and change clothes before meeting us if you've just arrived, and follow safety precautions such as wearing a mask indoors and frequently washing your hands throughout the weekend. We promise to do the same for you!
Event venues have been moved to outdoor locations with your safety in mind. See the "Safety Note" in all events for further details on each.
Welcome to Gasparilla Island and our wedding weekend! To kick things off, hop on board a private charter with us to Cabbage Key for lunch at the restaurant reported to be Jimmy Buffet's inspiration for the song "Cheeseburger in Paradise." Enjoy a mimosa and meet fellow wedding guests as we cruise the picturesque waterway. Dolphins sometimes jump in the wake, so make sure you bring a camera!
Immediate family and Wedding Party are asked to please walk to Banyan Street at 4:45pm to meet with our wedding planner, Nicole with NK Productions, and rehearse the next day's ceremony.
Come As You Are
Squeeze the last rays of sun out of the day and come straight from the beach club if you want! We'll have time after the ceremony rehearsal to freshen up before dinner.
All guests are invited to an intimate dinner on the back patio of 3rd Street Bistro.
Island Cocktail (here's some inspo!)
Men: Keep things light with a summer linen suit or khaki pants, and a button up shirt. ... Island cocktail gives gentlemen the permission to ditch ties, but keep the jacket on and the shirt a button up. No jeans no sandals.
Women: Why not embrace the sights and sounds of the surf and turf around you? Fun colors or prints encouraged but not required!
Bridesmaids are requested to meet Charley in the Presidential Suite at the Gasparilla Inn starting at 10am to get ready for the wedding.
10am: Bridesmaids to arrive at Presidential Suite
10:30am: Hair and makeup starts in bride's room with James Griffith Salon
1pm: Photographer arrives and begins photo coverage
1:30pm: Flower girls to arrive at Presidential Suite for hair and makeup
2:15pm: Hair and makeup is complete, bride and bridesmaids to get dressed
3:30pm: Photos of bride, bridesmaids, flower girls and parents with one of the photographers in a separate location from the groom
4:20pm: Bridal party depart for ceremony on trolley
While the bridal party gets ready on the big day, we'll have a pickleball tournament set up for any interested guests at the Gasparilla Inn Tennis Club.
Never played? No problem! It's super easy to pick up and the hosts will be happy to teach any newbies. 2 tennis courts are also reserved. Coffee and bagels will be available for spectators.
Whites are not required; smooth-sole tennis shoes are encouraged if you will be using the clay tennis courts.
Groomsmen are requested to meet John in The Pelican Room at The Gasparilla Inn for lunch and to get ready for the wedding.
12:30 - 1:30pm: Lunch in Pelican Room after the pickleball tournament
1:30: Shower and meet John back in the Pelican Room by 2:30 to get ready
2:30pm: Get ready with the groom in the Pelican Room
3pm: Groom, groomsmen and groom's parents will take photos with one of the photographers in a separate location than the bride
4pm: Groom and groomsmen along with ring bearer, flower girls and Peaches depart for ceremony via Trolley
The wedding ceremony will take place under a canopy of Banyan trees on historic Banyan Street. The street runs perpendicular to the Gulf of Mexico, and the unique tunneled space created by the trees frames romantic views of the evening sunsets. It's going to be magical!!
Fortunately our ceremony venue was already outdoors! Any concerns with distancing for wedding party will have been addressed at the rehearsal with our wedding planner, Nicole, and seating has been arranged so other guests will be next to those in their party.
The trolley is open air and has double the capacity of guests that will be on it at a given time.
Please leave little ones under the age of 5 at home for this one :)
The Gasparilla Inn concierge will arrange babysitting services and can be reached at 941.964.4580. For guests staying elsewhere, we recommend Elite Family Care.
After Charley and John say "I do", a trolley will shuttle everyone over to the Gasparilla Inn & Club for cocktail hour and photos on the Croquet Lawn. Dinner and lots of dancing in the tent to follow!
Fortunately our cocktail hour and reception venue was already outdoors! We've kept a large size tent and dance floor despite reducing our guest list by 500% so there will be ample room in the open air tent for spacing. Tables will mostly seat guests with those who they are already traveling with. Guests will be given a personalized "Don't Take My Drink I'm Dancing" coaster to cover and identify their drink while they're away from it. Our wedding planner, Nicole, will be present throughout the evening and able to address any concerns you may have.

Anyone who's not quite ready to call it a night can walk over to The Pink Elephant for an after party with the bride and groom featuring a live DJ traveling from LA!
(Hey Nate, this is us asking you to DJ, k thanks!!)
Join us for brunch at the Gasparilla Inn as we say farewell to Boca Grande! Enjoy a bit more Florida sunshine with the new Mr. and Mrs. Emslie before heading out!
