Hope Raubenheimer
Maid of Honor

11 years ago, I met one of the best humans on planet Earth. Though she didn't know it yet, I knew without a shadow of a doubt we would be ever-lasting friends. Abby came to South Africa on a university exchange, we met through a group of mutual friends and soon became as close as ever. When she left to complete her studies back home, I was mightily upset. Abby and I could not be more different from one another, yet somehow we have so much in common. When she eventually returned to South Africa, I'm proud to say we picked up exactly where we had left off. 10 years down the line she is still my bestest of friends, favorite travel buddy (even though it's been a while), advice giver, lifesaver, food lover, grammar queen, festival fanatic, ninja bomber, and lover of all things weird and wonderful. Abby, I am so blessed to be your maid of honor, and I can't wait to watch you embark on this next big adventure of life.

My friendship with Abby dates back to our UCLA days. We met through the Ski and Snowboard Club but a fast bond was formed which has led to 10 years of irreplaceable adventures and stories. We have road-tripped up the west coast, traveled around Europe together, she has shown me all around Cape Town and I have been lucky to show her my home in New York. From countless ski trips, concerts, and festivals, to spending legitimately 24 hours eating burritos in reclining chairs, there is no one I would rather have by my side. I’ve had the delight of not just traveling with Abby but Jürgen as well, and I have enjoyed watching their relationship grow even while living on the other side of the world. I am honored to be a part of this special day and I can’t wait to celebrate these two extraordinary people and the love they share!

The moment I met Abby, I knew that this is one powerful woman that I want to hold on to forever! Our stardust intertwined and there was no turning back! We come from such different worlds but there are a few things that we have in common that I believe brought us together in this vast universe; truth, loyalty, and acceptance. I have never met someone so capable, determined, and inspirational. A friend I can always count on! We have shared so many beautiful moments together, like hiking KILOMETRRRRS down Australia’s coast, through the water into the sun, and beautiful beaches! Abby has one fiery-hot personality and a steely resolve, yet still the soft and loving embrace of a true friend! Since we have become friends I realized how we build each other as people and support each other’s dreams and lives.
ABBY AND JURGEN WILL BE GOING PLACES! And I cannot wait to see what heights they reach and what beautiful and inspirational things they achieve!

Abby and I met in the middle school band and grew into lifelong friends from there. In high school, we grew close through marching band shenanigans (nerds) and late-night sleepovers playing dance dance revolution and eating cheese balls. Since then, we've both moved on to go to college on the west coast and beyond. We continue to stay in touch and support each other with nothing but love ❤️❤️❤️

Abby and I met in the youth group at the Church of Open Door, of all places. If I remember correctly we were both pretty awkward and in that weird stage between middle school and high school and bonded over our "out there" style of clothing and artistic abilities. We went to a couple of retreats together and grew very close, usually bunking together at these sleep-away camps or church-organized events. Eventually, we just ended up spending a lot of time together on the weekends or over the summer when school was out and I remember many many sleepovers in Abby's parents' basement in Greenfield, Minnesota. We would stay up late painting the walls of her room with funky designs and colors. If we weren't in Buffalo we were usually driving around closer to the city and going shopping at Mall of America. I even invited her on a road trip with my Polish friends to Chicago where we spent a couple of weeks and eventually had to take a very long Greyhound bus ride back to Minneapolis since we didn't drive our car to Chicago and had no way of getting back home. Since Abby was a year older than me, I really looked up to her in a way and loved hearing about all her adventures in college. After she moved away, we still kept in touch anytime she was in town visiting family. She would visit me at my apartment at the University of Minnesota over winter break and we really had some random college nights where some of her Buffalo friends would tag along. Nowadays we keep in touch long distance with Whatsapp voice messages. whenever she's in town, she and Jürgen stay with me and usually have a day-to-day plan of visiting some interesting restaurants and places. I swear I learn how special Minnesota is when she plans these little visits. I am so excited to finally visit her in Cape Town and celebrate her and Jürgen as they started their married life together!

Abby is one of my oldest and dearest friends. She is truly one of the most fun, wild, and authentic women I know. I am so grateful for our friendship! We met in elementary school and have been close ever since. I knew I found a lifelong friend in Abby when I discovered we were both nerds who were able to find the humor in anything. You always knew you are going to laugh your butt off with her. We were always coming up with some type of hair-brain scheme that would stress our parents out. May it be trying to escape down a river on floaties or brand ourselves with the horse brander. It has been wonderful seeing Abby grow into the amazing woman she is. Jürgen is one lucky man and such a perfect match! Their love is beautiful and inspiring. I am honored to be a part of the big day and cannot wait to celebrate with all of you!

Abby and I met on one of the most memorable TV Series I’ve ever worked on.
We instantly connected and I remembered what a total foodie Abby was! I always struggled with my appetite but Abby brought me into the world of 3-course breakfasts and non-stop snacking.
The biggest lesson I’ve learnt from Abby was that you can be who you are, you don’t have to mirror anyone in order to have a strong relationship and because of this mindset, it’s easy to see how colourful Abby’s friendships are.
I have always cheered on her relationship with Jurgen and I’m so excited to witness their union in Marriage.
No matter how busy life gets, I always know our friendship will be strong since Abby is so Loyal & Loving.

26 years ago I was born and met my brother, now some people say get to choose your friend and not choose your family. But I wouldn't have chosen a better brother even if I could.
Even with us both being totally different people, nothing can stand between us.

5 years ago when I decided to move to South Africa I was linked up with Jürgen by a friend as he was supposed to train me as a DIT to work together with him under PixelPulseFilms in the film industry.
He didn’t just train me as a dit, he also helped me learning English and let me stay at his place the first year. Our work relationship quickly transformed into a very good and solid friendship as well. He is one of the kindest people I have ever met in my entire life and I’m very happy to call him one of my best friends.

We met in Jan van Riebeek, we had skateboarding as a hobby so it was inevitable that we were going to be friends, both of us are hyperactive so that just made us get along even more. Best time i have ever had with you, was that 1 vortex, we were right at the front of the dance floor, dancing with our eyes closed, while Avalon was playing, was literally 1 of the best moment of my life

I met jurgen on a small independent film where we were both stepping up to be HoDs for the first time. We worked closely together and enjoyed each others company enough to move into a flat together a couple of months later. We spent the next few years living in different parts of Cape Town together with Abby joining us along the way. I had the opportunity to watch Abby and Jurgens relationship from its inception to what they have grown to today. I think we are all a bit envious of the adventure they are on together traveling the world and living life to its fullest.

Jürgen and I met over a decade ago through mutual friends. We thought our connection would be a fleeting one, limited to the party scene. But we quickly realized that we had a deep kinship, and within a few years, we became inseparable. We bonded over serious life conversations and shared our ways of coping with life's challenges.
I have the utmost love and respect for Jürgen, and I am honored to be one of his groomsmen. He is a kind, intelligent, and compassionate man, and I am grateful to have him in my life.
I cherish the memories we have made together over the years. From our late-night heart-to-hearts to our wild adventures, Jürgen has always been there for me. He is a true friend, and I am so lucky to have him in my life.
I am excited to celebrate Jürgen's upcoming wedding to the love of his life. I know that they will have a beautiful and fulfilling life together. Congratulations to the happy couple!

In 2013, Jürgen and I met in college. Sharing a deep passion for cinematography, our paths crossed, and we've been friends ever since. We often worked together for 18-hour days, fueled by laughter and sleep deprivation. One memorable time, Kurt Darren's singing even woke Jürgen from a deep sleep. It's been a great friendship ever since.

Once upon a time, in the hallowed halls of Jan Van Riebeek High School, Jurgen and I crossed paths. Our shared love for skateboarding and a certain beverage brought us together. He may not have been a sports champ, but surely knew how to balance on a skateboard.
Now, Jurgen, he's a man of many talents. When the music starts playing, you'd better watch out. He's got dance moves that put even the pros to shame. Whenever we hit the town, he transforms into a dancing madman. We've shared unforgettable moments at festivals and partied like there's no tomorrow and our journey has been nothing short of epic.
Jurgen isn't just a dance floor sensation, he's got work ethics that we can all relate to. Whether it's perfecting those dance moves or putting in the hours at his job, he's a man who knows the value of dedication and hard work. Jurgen's commitment to excellence in everything he does is truly inspiring. Here's to a groom who shows us that with passion and perseverance, anything is possible!
Let's celebrate this wild ride of a friendship and an even wilder wedding day!
