How the story began

We first met on the dating app Hinge. I had recently moved to California from Missouri and Edgar had just moved to SF. Our first date was in the Mission District in SF on Sunday of MLK weekend. We spent all day together ( Literally, almost 12 total hrs) starting with two brunches followed by bar hopping to the local brewery and dive bars, and ending the night with quesadilla suizas from taqueria El Farolito. We were having so much fun that I actually missed my train ride back home, and Edgar kindly called me an Uber. On that ride, I told my uber driver that "I think I just met my future boyfriend!" Little did I know that this was the beginning of our beautiful journey together.

City boy finds a Midwestern girl

On our first date, Abby mentioned her family lives in "Columbia". Being half Colombian, I could not wait to talk about the country's culture! She quickly followed that statement with a Chiefs and Mizzou shoutout, along with a very detailed explanation as to why KC BBQ is the best, and that's when I knew I was in for a treat. Seeing Abby's pride for her hometown was so endearing and I love that we had that in common given my similar pride for the Bay Area and my Latin culture. The picture above was from my first visit to Missouri. The Niners played the Chiefs and it was my first time seeing Abby's hometown and College stomping ground.  What I love about this day was that it was the beginning of a new hometown for me to explore, and let me tell you, after a few plates of burnt ends and KC Joes Brisket, future trips are looking very promising.

Puerto Vallarta ♥

Puerto Vallarta is a very special place to us. Edgar's mother's hometown is roughly a 3 hour drive away and he grew up coming to Puerto Vallarta in the summers during his childhood with his abuelita. This picture was taken on the Malecon during our first time visiting PV together to celebrate New Years. We fell in love with the beauty of the town, felt so connected to the natural jungle energy and have spent multiple New Years in Puerto Vallarta celebrating our anniversary. We are so excited and thankful to get married here and are continuing our tradition as our wedding date falls on the Anniversary of our first date <3

The Proposal

Edgar proposed to me on April 30, 2020. The date is easy to remember because it was the last day in our SF apartment together and we had just moved to our 2nd apartment in Redwood City. He said that since we have to go finish cleaning the apartment for the check out inspection, why not get dressed and have a picnic on the rooftop for our last date night there. Keep in mind, this is 1 month into quarantine and sweatpants were becoming my new daily go-to apparel during shelter in place. As we arrived, his family had set up a beautiful walkway with rose petals that led to a heart shaped with rocks and candles. He was holding Biggie, and as we got to the door Biggie instantly sprinted out after seeing Edgar's parents. With Edgar half out the door, I shouted "OMG, someone's proposing out there, close the door!". His response was as funny as you can imagine replying sarcastically "maybe you, if you open the door".

His initial plan was to have my family there and throw a surprise engagement party with friends and close family that would fly in. Of course COVID-19 put a damper on the plans, but with my parents looking on via facetime, Edgar got down on one knee and popped the question with my response of course being a huge Yes! 2 years later and here we are, looking forward to spending our wedding day with those same close friends and family in one of our favorite places!
